Willis and the wind tunnel shunt

Posted on Author Keith Collantine

Takuma Sato, BAR-Honda, Magny-Cours, 2005Was Geoff Willis dropped by Honda because of a 200 mph windtunnel crash? When I read the story in this month’s BusinessF1 I was sceptical – after all, they’ve got a history of ‘forming the wrong impression’. But F1 Racing also reported this month that an RA106 was destroyed in Honda’s new wind tunnel at Brackley.

Apparently the car’s restraints broke and it slid across the rolling road and ‘crashed’, being written off completely. If true, it can only be another setback for the team that have suffered a disastrous 2006 season.
