GP2 in the limelight

GP2, Hockenheimring, 2006During the French Grand Prix Formula One team owners and the governing body fired accusations back and forth about the future supply and regulation of engines in Formula One. Renault even issued a press release during the race, which certainly provided more interest than what was going on on-track.

This has become a talking point in the past few weeks – the rotten lack of racing in current Grands Prix, and the governing body’s total indifference to it. The quality of racing in GP2 has attracted legions of fans, and now even the mainstream press are picking up on what could be the most exciting single-seater racing series today.
