Super Aguri testing 2006 Honda?

28 November 2006 by Keith Collantine

As testing for the 2007 F1 season begins in Barcelona today it seems Super Aguri are running the 2006 Honda RA106 car.

The photographs below show 2007 Super Aguri driver Anthony Davidson in what appears to be a RA106 repainted in Super Aguri colours.

If so, and Super Aguri are able to run last year’s Honda as next year’s car, it could mean an enormous leap forward in performance for the young team.

A precedent for a team running another team’s car was set this year when Red Bull’s second team Scuderia Toro Rosso ran the 2005 Red Bull as their car, cleverly circumventing the FIA regulations that require each to to produce their own car.

Update: It has now been confirmed that Super Aguri will run the RA106 next year according to this story.
