F1 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife wallpapers

29 April 2007 by Keith Collantine

Nick Heidfeld became the first driver in 31 years to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a Formula 1 car on Saturday.

The track last staged a Grand Prix in 1976, when Niki Lauda crashed at Bergwerk sustaining serious burns from which he almost died. The circuit was swiftly declared too dangerous to race on, because it was impossible to marshal its 14 miles track completely.

Heidfeld drove a tour of the circuit in his BMW F1.06 on special ‘demonstration’ Bridgestone tyres substantially slower than standard F1 rubber. He was nonetheless able to complete a lap including the famous steeply banked Karussel.

There’s a selection of wallpapers of Heidfeld in action on the Nürburgring Nordschleife available via the links below.
