Ron Dennis is already fighting major battles on three fronts: Against Ferrari for the world championships, with the FIA over manufacturer-orientated rules and with the media over Lewis Hamilton.
Obviously that’s not enough to occupy his mind, so he’s now turned his invective against jovial paddock rag, The Red Bulletin.
Not a single copy of Red Bull’s magazine is to be found in the McLaren Technology Centre. Dennis explains why:
I think it’s a piece of rubbish.
I don’t like what it stands for. I don’t like the quality of it and I don’t like the way it tries to make fun out of individuals from every team and their efforts to try and do a good job. I don’t think it has a place in Grand Prix racing.
If people want to come and enjoy the hospitality of McLaren then they should respect the fact that I don’t particularly like what I consider to be a controversial document coming into our facility.
Steady on, Ron! I mean, a man’s entitled to his opinions and all but what they hell have they written about you that’s got you all upset?
Could this be pent up anger at the fact that Red Bull have an ex-McLaren driver, an ex-McLaren designer and are presently hauling their way up the field – in a car that looks awfully like recent McLarens?
Whatever it is, The Red Bulletin, which celebrated its second birthday this weekend, is a poor target to pick. He’s pretty much guaranteed himself a kicking in their pages for the rest of the season at least. This is a company that’s not above giving the French a verbal slagging at Magny-Cours every year because their product can’t be sold there.
And it’s a bit silly to dismiss it as fluff. Yes, it has a lot of light-hearted stuff, but there’s also some excellent historical and technical features that would certainly put some of the mainstream press to shame.

Yup, I think The Red Bulletin is quite capable of defending itself in its inimitable fashion – which presumably means that it will remain banned for as long as it exists.
