Markus Winkelhock confirmed for Nürburgring

Spyker have confirmed that their test driver Markus Winkelhock will replace Christijan Albers at this weekend’s European Grand Prix.
Winkelhock will partner compatriot Adrian Sutil – the pair being among five German drivers on the grid at the Nürburgring.
His father Manfred raced in F1 in the 1980s but was killed in a sports car crash in 1985.
Winkelhock may only have the seat for one race as another of Spyker’s four test drivers, Adrián Vallés, has been linked with the seat at the Hungaroring in two weeks’ time.

Yes! Markus Winklehock deserved this chance – he’s fast and has worked hard for Spyker in his test role. I am very pleased with Spyker’s decision, even though I know in my heart that he could win the race and still be put back on the sub’s bench when Klien or Karthikeyan’s kash komes through.
