First let me say I had no great love for Mclaren or dislike for Alonso.
It seems to me that the whole thing boils down to Alonso not being able to beat his team mate. First he asked for preferential status & to be allowed to finish in front of Hamilton, and when that wasn't forthcoming, he started trying to get an edge by cheating, by getting Ferrari info through the Stepney-Coughlan-De La Rosa chain. When that didn't work he then tried to blackmail the team into letting him win by threatening to expose what he'd been doing, and when Ron Dennis called his bluff he didn't have the nerve to do it, but by then Dennis had already contacted the FIA. The worst thing for me about the whole affair was that the one person who stood to gain from it (Alonso) was given immunity by Mosely, who was desperate to get anything he could on Dennis. Alonso was the one cheating, he should have been the one punished.

The link refers to Hamilton having a new engine for Interlagos and Alonso not, which is because Hamilton failed to finish in Shanghai.

It's just the way the rules are. I'm sure if you gave Hamilton the choice he would have rather finished in Shanghai, scored some points, and not been able to switch engines.

I don't like the two-race engine rule, but it's the same for everyone.

Hello,

I am somewhat confused with all the comments I read here. Even on the same paragraph I read such contradictions as alonso is not charismatic and alonso is not able to accept the good driver hamilton is.

Point 1. Nobody likes to be beaten. You can accept it when the tournament its done, but meanwhile you have to be motivated, rage and go for it. It is not childish behaviour, this is driving, there is contact, like soccer or football. This is not golf or tennis for gods sake. You get dirty on the field. I dont expect nobody here to be a gentleman.

Point 2. This is the first time Fernando is second. He cannot behave like the previous tournaments. We cannot expect from him to methodically plan his races. He will take more risks, make more mistakes. The interesting part of it, he is actually doing it. Would you prefer it otherwise? Do you imagine other champion recovering and winning without scratching his car? Comon, dont kid with me.

Point 3. I cant beleive how you all manage to judge people without exactly knowing whats going on behind the scenes. What we have from the pit stop incident is a report from the FIA and a unjustified sanction (by the report). Thats it. Whatever the reason is that alonso has that kind of attitude towards the press and the crowd, we should have enough dignity to constrain our statements basing them only on recetrack events as there is possibly no way we have the certain and needed info to evaluate them as any other thing but as drivers, if we can even do so with todays electronics.

Conclusion, we have what we want. We have a tournament going on and a championship in play. Really in play. Comon people, nobody of us would change a bit of this if it wasnt to make it more dirty. So lets stop the bs, the dreaming and the wishing and lets enjoy what we have. Personally I wouldnt change hamilton for any other driver in the pack, and I wouldnt change Alonso either. I like the thing as it is right now.

I've been an Alonso fan since he joined Renault in 2003, I decided to support Alonso and Hamilton at McLaren this year together as I'm british but still wanted to support Fernando. I think Alonso is a great racing driver and has done some of the greatest overtaking moves I've ever seen! Especially going from 15th to 4th in a lap in Hungary 2006. I think he deserves to be a double world champion but the only thing that annoys me about him is how he gets annoyed and complains so much when hes beaten by a team-mate, rather then just racing him. As he is clearly fast enough to beat lewis on track if he doesnt get so frustrated

The signs have been there all the while. I remember his comments that Kimi, after winning a race, was lucky. Alonso happened to have a mechanical problem and then suggested that he is deserving of some luck.

I really wondered if FA smoked banana skins laced with pesticide, or something.

Number 38: I think you are grossly mistaken. The mere fact that he driving at the level, and sometimes better, than the two-time World Champion says that he is more than ready. As for his integrating into the team... do you mean him becoming slow and a regular finisher?

Sounds like social-engineering to me.

well it is the 1st time he's been challenged by a teammate! and yes, ruthlessness does make a champ! look at Senna and Schumi just to name a few

All said and done, Alonso is a bit of a whiner and Hamilton is a snotty geek. Kimi and Massa have both suffered from reliability issues this year, which seem to have escaped Mclaren. At the beginning of the year, Ron Dennis mentioneed in an interview that his new drivers were such "nice guys". Wonder what he thinks now.
Kimi and Massa seem to get along much better. Maybe because they are both focussed on getting out on track and winning for the TEAM, unlike the Mclaren boys who are out to do each other in.
