DTM’s stupid pit stop rules to get worse

27 March 2008 by Keith Collantine

The DTM have found a way to make their complicated and boring pit stop rules even harder to follow.

On top of forcing drivers to pit twice a race, they’re now going to set pit windows which will restrict the times at which they come into the pits.

It’s a rubbish idea nicked from, among other categories, A1 Grand Prix. It makes it easier for driver to avoid having to pass their rivals on the track, and it allows teams to use pit strategy to manipulate the running order in favour of certain drivers.

The DTM has badly lost its way with processional races, farcical team orders rows and stupid rules like this. It has the best-looking touring cars in any category, but stupid, confusing, pointless rules like this spoil the races.
