This site is great for any motorsport and especially F1 fan , I was writing occasionally on some S/African (where I'm from) sites , unfortunately most stories end up in political or racial issues , which is sad , whereas here persons writing reflect a genuine interest in F1 and respect each others views.
George , on your story of Jan Magnussen , Montoya etc. I guess there are many more who have under achieved in relation to their talent in F1 , and then there are some who get a drive and maybe should not have. I'm watching Nico Rosberg at present , while he is not a bad driver at all , I can't say he is the superstar that some have tried to make him out to be , and can't help thinking he is in F1 partly because of his famous father. It seems at the moment Nakajima is just as quick as he is , we will wait and see what happens.

My memory may fail me here, but I'm sure I recall Jackie Stewart (during the documentary about his team) suggesting that Magnussen had some discipline issues; smoking etc. There's no reason why this should really affect anything (Kimi 'party on dude!' Raikonnen anyone?) but he certainly failed to flourish at Stewart.

Maybe he just ran out of steam?

Ah, Jan Magnussen... now there IS an interesting case. Anyone who remembers the 1994 British F3 season will wonder how he could possible have failed to make it in Formula 1 - 14 wins from 18 starts, one more than Senna in his famous 1983 campaign. And all achieved with a devastating turn of pace and calm precision. Why he didn't make it would indeed make a very interesting piece indeed - it would highlight just how very, very talented, committed, dedicated and fortunate you have to be to make the grade in Formula 1. An interesting counterpoint story would perhaps be to wonder just how, for example, Ralf Schumacher enjoyed such a long and lucrative career in the top flight when talents such as Magnusseen have failed to make it through. There's always a reason for these things - why didn't Chris Amon win a GP? Why didn't Juan Montoya win a world title? And so on...

I like that, sChUmAcHeRtHeGrEaTeStEvEr. Plenty of material. Just the other day I was reading about Jan Magnussen, and thinking about Heinz Harry at Williams in '97.

how about an article or too based on the rise and fall line?? about drivers who were tipped for greatness but never really delivered. you can then maybe look into what reasons prevented them from fulfilling potential. etc etc

just and idea

Three ideas already I see! Don't forget you can vote on which ones you like.

Pete I really can't see the rules on F1 videos changing but I do wonder if FOM are starting to give up on policing it - it's getting easier and easier to find F1 videos online. Perhaps they're even grudgingly accepting that it's no bad thing and certainly not a threat to their business model?

Since this site is well respected and has a solid base of pretty knowledgable fans, is there any scope for getting a bit of a campaign together to end these ridiculous rules on f1 videos? Any videos in blog posts seem to last less than 24hrs and its a shame, as they make for great posts.

I still can't get over the irony that we're all sat here simply wanting to celebrate and promote our sport but Bernie won't let us. He should be grateful, not against us.

Any chance of a change of stance after the switch to BBC or will the same rules apply?
