Video: Valencia street track TV footage
Here are two more videos of the Circuito Urbano Valencia, which will host its first F1 race in three weeks’ time. I posted some onboard video from the Spanish street track earlier this week which started us wondering how good the circuit would look on TV. This footage should give us a good impression:
As expected the wide views of the track and harbour look great and the short blast across the bridge looks really good on television.
Other parts all look fairly similar but hopefully when more work has been done on the circuit there’ll be a splash more colour.

IMHO
Most of the high shots looked good, as well as the wide views. But the choice of some of the camera locations looks bad, and there was far too much in close up – so lots of panning was required. They need to zoom out a little or use wide angle lens so we can get more of a perspective of the track.
At one point they seem to be filming through prison bars !
The second film looked better, but not by much.
I guess the TV production was an afterthought of circuit design.
Where are the people? Correct me if I am wrong but not one on-track camera showed the stands or people in the background.
My concern is that I don’t see any cranes around the track, so does this mean we can expect lots of safety cars to be deployed throughout the race when incidents occur, thus potentially ruining the race.
Well, it does look better on TV! Let’s wait to see how the GP goes.

I’ve found something great that probably interest you. It’s the first real video of a qualifiyng lap at the Valencia Street Circuit, the urban circuit where the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe will be held in August, 22nd to 24th.
