  1. Lustigson says:

Wow, 3 in 4 people thought that was a ‘fantastic’ or ‘perfect’ race? If the WDC hadn’t been decided, it would’ve been merely good, since Massa ran away with it almost as dominant as Hamilton won last race.

  2. Craig says:

That was the very definition of an emotional rollercoaster!

  3. Oliver says:

The race was fantastic, because of the dramas. At the time Massa took the flag, he had won the championship, but a few seconds later, he had lost it again.

  4. beneboy says:

Lustigson, in a way you’re right but if this hadn’t been the last race of the season with the WDC & WCC at stake then we would have got a very different race too, the circumstances always influence the races in a championship.

    I gave this a 9.
I was excited long before the race started, the rain at the start had me almost crying with expectation.

The race was very exciting even with the top 3 pretty much running away for most of the race. Loads of action all the way down the field for most of the race.

Even as a Ferrari fan I loved the last few laps & I’ve got to say that Lewis deserved to win the championship just as Massa deserved to win the race

It would have been a 10 had DC finished and given us the doughnuts he promised he was going to do :~)

  5. I was gutted by DC’s last race. I know on this years form a first corner accident was to be expected, but I really wanted him to do well at his last one. I prolly would have rated it higher as well. And I was looking forward to those donuts too….

  6. David says:

What a race! Kept me on the edge of my seat for most of the race!

It didn’t bother me if Massa or Lewis got the championship, BOTH deserved it after this year’s performances. But, with just two laps to go, Lewis losing fifth place nearly had me walking out of the room in disgust, another championship where he snatched defeat from the jaws of victory! Then as I watched in absolute disbelief, Glock lost it and Lewis managed to slip past back into fifth.

You have to feel sorry for Massa, he thought he’d done enough to win both the race and the championship but that was not to be. He won the race, his home race, and clinched the title for Ferrari, hopefully he will get another chance in 2009, but Lewis will be defending the title, I wouldn’t put it past him to defend it successfully! Well done to both drivers, roll on March and the BBC coverage.

  7. Pointer says:

A truly dramatic end to an amazing season. Hopefully we can banish the demons of the stewards decisions and all bask in glory that is F1 racing. I think it’s fair to say we’ve moved on from the Schumacher procession years.

    Thank you, Timo..!

  8. Trip Hazard says:

Sorry, couldnt give it a pefect 10 cos i nearly died several times during the last 2 laps…. Jeez, I’m exhausted.

  9. ceedas says:

Wrong driver won the drivers championship, wrong team won the constructors championship, but fair enough. Let’s see what next year brings…

  10. ajokay says:

No no Ceedas, I think you’ll find, through the power of maths, that the correct driver and team won their respective championships, as they amassed more points than the other competitors.

8/10 for this one. Would have been average if it wern’t for all that was at stake, but I was on the edge of the sofa for most of it.

  11. ceedas says:

I think you know what I meant.

  12. Chaz says:

… relieved and still trying to catch my breath, not to mention my heart is still in my mouth… come on my son Lewis you beauty!!!

  13. A 10, because it was the second title-decider race in a row that makes me cry of joy in front of the TV, at least for two laps… This time wasn’t the result I’d loved to see, but it was a proper end for a really fought roller-coaster championship. Congratulations to Lewis for showing finally that he can keep his head cool and win the championship (and proving me that he actually deserve to be champion).

Felipe, we’ll have revenge next year ;-)

  14. Franza says:

Even though I cried with Felipe, I still gave the race a 9. Even before the race started I was so nervous and scared for Felipe. But in the end the guy with the most points won. I support the idea of the medal system and that the guy with the most gold medals win the DWC. Then Felipe would have won. But well done to Hamilton. And I think that this is the best thing that could have happened to Felipe. This will give him that extra hunger to come out fighting for the title next year. Go Felipe!!

  15. chunter says:

I think the voters are a bit wrong to have factored in the season-ending events to the race, because without looking at the championship points, you cannot call this race better than Spa this year. Toyota’s blunder and Hamilton’s luck do not top Heidfeld’s charge to third place.

Hamilton should be champion on consistency but I think the real champion this year was the rain.

Imagine what next year will be like if Renault and BMW can actually keep their development up through the entire season.

  16. chunter says:

I should add that the attrition was very low in this race, and the drivers should be credited for that considering the conditions, but I also expected a lot more risk in the final race of a year.

Coulthard’s unfortunate career exit in the Senna S was somewhat predictable.

  17. Jimmy says:

I don’t feel Massa would be AS deserving given Kimi letting him by last race, and the ridiculous penalties in his favor/against Lewis.
