F1 links: Hamilton’s ideal circuit

1 December 2008 by Keith Collantine

Lewis Hamilton’s 180mph F1 super circuit

"Lewis Hamilton has come up with his own plan for a Formula 1 ‘super circuit’. Hamilton’s F1 track vision features real-life corners taken from the world’s premier racing tracks."

Senna vs. Prost

"We all remember or know of the great Ayrton Senna versus Alain Prost battle of two decades ago. What fewer of us will know of is the unofficial, completely unpublicized dual career of the sons of these two drivers, which as of yesterday has taken on considerable interest in my mind as a kind of parallel battle of the younger generation."

Toyota F1: online and on-message

"Happily there is no obvious indication that anybody is about to call time on their F1 involvement even though there is clearly much nervousness spinning around the sport at present."

Donington boss looks forward to proving doubters wrong on F1 GP

'[Donington Park boss Simon] Gillett said the circuit would be ready for the race, which usually takes place in early July. He said: "It was always our intention to start work in February, so the fact that the date for planning permission is in January makes no difference. "It will be ready on time. Some people think differently – and I am looking forward to handing out the humble pie to them when I'm standing on the grid at the start of the British Grand Prix at Donington Park in 2010."'

Nascar hits the skids

"The faltering economy has hit Nascar with a triple whammy of financial setbacks which place a dark cloud of uncertainty over the colourful racetracks that represent a traditional spiritual home to the obsessions and values of blue-collar America."

That Track by Lewis would be great for a F1 sim :)

Just read the article on the contraction of Nascar. Hope it’s not contagious.

    Lewis’ track looks great!
I found the other day a petition to stop Tilke designing tracks…

Fantastic track idea by Lewis! Great corners, and I like how he arranged them. 130R leading into Eau Rouge? Omg!

  8. josh says:

You said about Senna vs Prost, and the two sons, but Bruno isn’t Ayrton’s son…… is he! But it would be quality to see them in some duel, if they both made it into f1 that would be good.

  9. Josh – that’s a very good point, although the quote is from the article on IHT, not me!

  10. DG says:

Hounslow, if its affecting NASCAR now, it will be hurting Europe and Asia very soon. What is Bernie going to do when BMW, Toyota or Honda decide they cannot afford a racing team any more? I liked the point about the promoters giving free Pitpasses to the loyal fans, thats something Bernie should be paying attention to, how can he convince us to spend our money to watch the race at the circuit and not just stay at home…..

  11. Chris Y says:

There’s a virtual lap of Lewis’ fantasy track here: http://mobil1.eu/lewis/

  12. Becken says:

Theres a strong rumor in Brazilian F1 news agency that Rubens will test Honda at Jerez with Bruno Senna.

They mainly point is that Jenson Button´s performance at Barcelona was not enough to measure the real capacity of Bruno.

Lucas di Grassi was told Sunday that he had not chance anymore to race for the team [Honda] on next season.

So, the fight for Honda seat will be between only Bruno and Rubens at Jerez…

  13. Interesting stuff thanks Becken – always good to know what’s being said in Brazil and I can’t speak Portuguese!
