Autosport International 2008

I’m going to be in Birmingham for the Autosport International show over the next two days.

As usual I’ll be writing about the show for Auto Trader and there’ll be lots of coverage of on the Auto Trader website.

I’ll also being putting up F1-related pictures here. I should be talking to Donington Park boss Simon Gillett on Friday which I’ll report back on. And Ron Dennis is giving the annual Watkins lecture which I’ll be attending too.

There’s plenty of F1-related attractions at the show this year including:

  • F1 Racing display – 50 years of British champions featuring seven of their cars, plus a full 2008 F1 grid
  • A tribute to David Coulthard – various pre-F1 cars plus a Williams FW17, McLaren MP4/15 and Red Bull RB2
  • A collection of Lotus F1 cars – including Emerson Fittipaldi’s 72 and Ayrotn Senna’s 97T in which he won his first Grand Prix
  • 50th anniversary of Cosworth collection
  • Flybrd showing an F1-spec Kinetic Energy Recovery System

During the public days (Saturday and Sunday) there will loads of F1 personalities around including Coulthard, Murray Walker, Ron Dennis and others. I won’t be there on those days which unfortunately means missing out on Alianora’s kart race as well. Sorry for being anti-social guys, I hope you have a great time.

Can’t wait either. I’m especially looking forward to seeing the collections of F1 cars and *fingers crossed* seeing DC :-)

  4. have fun keith =)

i wonder if the Flybrid KERS on display will be demonstated…

if anyone’s interested (i was and hastily googled) Flybrid haven’t actually openly announced which F1 team they are going to be supplying. They only mentioned a “large manufacturor backed Formula One team”. I guess all F1 teams could be described as large though ;P

Jon Hilton, who runs Flybrid, used to work for Renault F1…

they have worked with Jaguar in the past, so maybe Red Bull…

Let us know what turns up Keith!

Pass on anything you find out keith!

  7. have taken the rain card this year and will be missing out. will be reading all on auto trader!

mr dennis should be very intresting on the friday, I’am reading one of the many Senna books at present his views during 88-91 seasons make for great reading.
i think he offers a great “bridge” between the generations of f1 drivers

  8. The cars in the photo look much better without those plastic aerodinamic wheel covers ! the FIA should ban them and then the wheels could be painted in all kinds of nice colours like black on the inside and chrome along the outside rim, or all silver and chrome …. or red and silver etc
Cheers for Keith have a good time !
