"The amendment to the sporting regulations proposed by the World Motorsport Council was not performed in accordance with the procedure provided for by Appendix 5 of the Sporting Regulations and, as per the provisions of the article 199 of the FIA International Sporting Code, it is too late for FIA to impose a change for the 2009 season that has not obtained the unanimous agreement of all the competitors properly entered into the 2009 Formula 1 Championship."
Could Melbourne be a dusk race?
"On 29 March 2009 the sun sets in Melbourne at 1918. Let’s say the formation lap takes three minutes. If the two hour time limit is reached, cars could still conceivably be running at racing speeds at 1905 (for the time it takes for the leader to reach the finish line, then the cars on the lead lap to complete that lap). Then there is the in-lap. If, for some reason, the red flag has to come out, they would only be able to take ten or fifteen minutes maximum to be sure that the race will be completed with the sun still in the sky."

What a good idea – have not heard about such a thing yet. Now Mr. Owen will get the opportunity to drive all those cars he enjoyed looking at so much.
It is a pity that such beautiful historic tracks such as Brands Hatch are not being used considered for F1. It is probably better, in this case, that it is not used for F1, since that would mean too many changes – these would make the track lose some of its character.
The Superbike races at Brands Hatch are wonderful to watch …
