Here’s a round-up of F1 news and other interesting links I’ve found today.

If you’ve spotted a hot news story, interesting new website or just something funny from the world of F1, please share your links in the comments below.

Wurz set to lead Superfund into F1

"Former Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz has lodged an entry in the 2010 Formula 1 World Championship with a new start-up operation called Team Superfund."

Trofeo Bandini

"Sebastian Vettel hasn’t switched teams, but on Sunday he was reunited with “Julia” the name he gave to the STR3 Scuderia Toro Rosso car with which he took his historic maiden F1 win in last year’s Italian Grand Prix."

Mark Webber: not your average F1 driver

Mark Webber on Lewis Hamilton: “His career has gone off like a rocket ship, but it won’t always be like that. He’s young and he’s black, which makes him unique in this sport, but that’s got a shelf life. He won’t stop being black but it will stop being a novelty. And he’ll find that some of the column inches, maybe even this season, are totally negative and totally incorrect. That’s not easy to deal with.”

Bidding war for Jenson Button

'The bidding war over Jenson Button's services kicked off yesterday with one leading team boss saying: "We'd love to have him in our car next year."' Daily Mirror pushing this angle again but they still haven't said exactly which team might be interested in Button.

    Team Superfund?

Not seeing it, I’m afraid. To me, Team US-F1, Lola, Prodrive and Campos Meta 1 all have better cases given their various experiences with the sport. Superfund’s still-born racing series just seems like a black spot to me.

As for the bidding war over Jenson Button, I’m not believing it. Sure, teams might want him given his performances, but “tabloid” is just another word for “gross exaggeation”. Button know’s he’s on to a good thing with Brawn, and he’ll probably want to stay there.

    1. agreed

  2. Superfund has been sponsoring racing teams for a long time. I’ve sold their hedge funds in the past. A couple years ago they invited many of their clients to watch a team test. I didn’t go, but some of my colleagues did. But for the life of me I can’t remember which team they were sponsoring then. Spyker?

  3. I’m sure Jenson would prefer a winning car, rather than a mega salary in a lowly team again…

  4. That’s what he told Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear a couple years ago, Chaz. Button said he would trade all the money, all the women, everything, for a winning car.

    1. I think I’d want to keep the women :-)

      1. Me too :)

    2. Yeah, Clarkson seemed rather surprised at his answer too. He cracks me up.
