Turkish Grand Prix qualifying pictures

One thing that leaps out at you when looking at this selection of pictures from qualifying at Istanbul today is just how few people have bothered to show up. Here’s a collection of pictures of this afternoon’s action, unfortunately set against a backdrop of largely empty grandstands.

Vettel to make first pit stop before Button (Turkish Grand Prix fuel weights)

Sebastian Vettel may be starting from pole position but Jenson Button is carrying more fuel than the Red Bull driver. Button’s Brawn is fuelled around two laps longer than Vettel and Mark Webber, fourth on the grid, is fuelled even further. Fuel weights in full below.

Sebatian Vettel holds back Brawns for pole (Turkish Grand Prix qualifying)

Sebastian Vettel dominated qualifying for the Turkish Grand Prix, setting fastest time in all three parts of the session. His final time prevented Brawn from securing a lock-out of the front row and – gives him a vital opportunity to cut into Jenson Button’s points lead.
