Button runs London Triathlon (Pictures)
Over 55,000 spectators lined the streets of London yesterday to watch 14,000 competitors tackle the London Triathlon 2009.
Jenson Button was among their number tackling the arduous running, swimming and cycling competition. He set a personal best time of 2hr 7min 2sec – almost half an hour longer than it took him to win the Monaco Grand Prix…
The full results aren’t available at the race’s official website yet but you can take a look at a PDF of the punishing course route. Button ran the Olympic course, comprising a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride, and a 10km run.
How did he celebrate after all that?
Just got back from a massive Sunday roast and sticky toffee pudding! I’d like to say it was well deserved!! Did the Tri in 2:07:02 Chuffed!!

Two other F1 drivers were in action this weekend, but both in cars: Jaime Alguersuari and Kimi Raikkonen.

did ’shov’ also compete? I think it was him who was running with button.
That is a damn fine effort.
Considering the very best in the world would only be 15 minutes up the road… a damn fine effort.
I doubt I could swim 1.5km in 2 hours 7 minutes…
What length is a standard pool, 25m?
So 1.5km is 60 lengths…
When I used to swim every week I managed 50 lengths in 60 minutes…
Swimming in open water is more difficult than swimming indoors, so I’m told.
50 metres
I wonder if he’ll compete for Team GB in the Olympic Triathlon in 2012.
I wonder if he will still be driving a brawn merc in 2012
whatever the timing is,finishing this sort of event requires lot of fitness and surely he’s on top of it. great job jensen…keep it ip.
Just goes to show all the haters out there that F1 drivers are athletes after all.
Olympic record is 1:48:24.02, so his time is a damn good effort
yeah and hamilton recon’s he’s fitter and could beat him…
Hamilton should try it then. He also is quicker than Bolt, better climber than Hilary, footballer than Pele etc etc. Not a big button fan but well done to him, that was very impressive.
