No, Toyota were not WRC manufacturer champions in 1998 – that was Mitsubishi. Toyota won the WRC manufacturer crown in 1999 with Carlos Sainz and Didier Auriol driving Corolla WRCars – the last season they competed as a factory team before pulling out to concentrate on their F1 program.
