Jason, with no disrespect meant to you, I seriously have to wonder how long have you been following F1?

Do you realize that not all of the car are equally fast?
And do you realize that while a car may be a top contender one year, it might not necessarily be one the following year?

Granted Kimi didn’t really have a spectacular season by his own standards in 2008, but to claim his 2009 season is even worse because he only managed to win one race this year, shows a general lack of knowledge for the sport.
The fact that Kimi actually managed 5 podiums during the year, and one of them a win, actually just shows what an incredible job he actually did. From James Allen’s blog (Top 5 drivers of the year): Even the Ferrari engineers don’t fully understand how he managed to get some of the podiums he did based on the performance of his car, compared to the opposition. Even Martin Whitmarsh praised some of Kimi’s performances during the year a few times. I do respect others opinion, but in this matter I would rather trust and believe what the Ferrari engineers and someone like Martin Whithmash thinks about this subject.

But even then you dont need any expert to realize that the F60 simply wasn’t a top winning car. During the course of the year it was often the 4th – 6th fastest car on the grid, and in some of the last races it was even slower then that. Theoretically it means that by car performance alone there was always suppose to be between 8 – 12 drivers who should have been faster then Kimi.

Just take Rosberg for example, his car was often at times during the year faster then the F60 and he didn’t manage to score one podium. Then you can look at Webber, Button and Barrichello all of them had much faster cars then Kimi, but Kimi was still able to out score them in the second half of the season. Lewis also had a much faster car then Kimi in the second half of the season, and yet Kimi only scored two points less then him.

I bet many drivers would only dream of giving such unmotivated performances!

^^ yep this year both webber and barrichello scored one more GP win then kimi and I believe that kobayashi in his short end of the season stint provided more interesting and exciting to watch racing at say brazil and dubai than kimi provide the hole 2009 season

Kimi sure does divide opinion – but Barrichello,Kobayashi & Webber….. seriously?

If you exclude Hamilton and Alonso from this list – Kimi has achieved in his career as much as the remaining drivers have achieved combined!

@rikhart and i heard that having a good grasp of English and sentence comprehension was a good thing but i guess that nobody ever told you. maybe your the one who needs to watch the 09,08,07 season again without your kimi loving rose colored glasses on. what a great driver he is going from 6 GP wins in the 07, to 2 wins in 08 to only one win in 09 oh I’m so sorry with those stats looks like he got the best out of the 08 and 09 cars. kimi is just a s**t driver he got “lucky” to scrape by and win the 07 championship by the skin of his teeth. ever since then everybody heaps all of this undeserved praise on him he’s an average driver and that’s giving him to much credit. i hate massa but i at least understand he is a better driver by leaps and bounds over kimi he overstayed his f1 welcome

It begs the question, have you even WATCHED the 2009 season before saying that kind of nonsense? I dont think so, because most that DID are unanimous in that Raikkonen did absolute miracles with a lousy car.
I heard that thinking before writing random gibberish is actually good.
