Is there a circuit in Shenzhen? I only know Zhuhai has one. I think the China GP should locate in Zhuhai, where the international circuit currently holds A1. Zhuhai is right next door to Macau and 2-3 hours' drive to Shenzhen and HK.

If China desperately wants a GP then perhaps it should be in ShenZhen. Its close to both Hong Kong and Macau (less then 1 hr away from each by train) and already has a decent track, although not sure how much work it would talk to get it up to standard.
The key is; you'd get spectators from Southern China and a lot of European people live in Hong Kong.
Just my thoughts after living in HK a few yrs back. I am an Aussie but have been to events, both the Macau GP and Shenzhen races and both were full of people actually passionately into motor racing.

I understand Keith, Bernie's greed knows no bounds!

But my limited understanding of his deals is that the only income left to the promoters is the ticket sales. And he could care less whether they make money or loose it by the bushel load.

Only a government can afford to subsidize prices in order to develop a fan base. Surely they have the latitude to lower their prices in order to increase their income, if their initial marketing plans detonate in their faces? Without Bernie interfering?

What I don’t understand about the government subsidized tracks like China and Malaysia: Why charge so much for the tickets?

I imagine if the promoter (hypothetically) said to Ecclestone "We'll pay $100m per year over seven years for our race and we'll spend $10m subsidising the tickets" his response would have been to set the price at $110m.

What I don't understand about the government subsidized tracks like China and Malaysia: Why charge so much for the tickets?

Why not adopt a strategy of inexpensive tickets which will create a fan base by people attending. Surely 200,000 sold tickets at an affordable price will create more income then no tickets sold due to high prices?

Obviously this strategy can't work at privately owned circuits like Silverstone. But when the government steps in they may as well step in all the way to make the event successful from an attendance perspective, even if it takes 5-7 years.

I prefer China to Malaysia aesthetically, and Turkey is a very decent track apart from the run after the first S up to Turn 8 (I just find that part boring), but it won't be the end of the world to see them go, although it means we'll probably get the boredom of a Rome street circuit in its place. Hopefully India will put on a good show, the design looks a little more interesting.

u know something everyone always says all this stuff about how tickets should be less and how if we want it this way and that way and you know what i 100% agree but if no one ever does anything about it it will never get fixed. Everyone has to stand together and tell these people hey we will not buy this tickets for these crazy prices and if no one comes to any of these races something will have to be done. Nascar started to have a problem with the ticket prices being way to high and the people told them to lower them and if they didnt they would stop coming and guess what they did nothing and one of the biggest races of the year for nascar was only half last year. Guess what this coming year the tickets are almost half of what they have been bc they got the hint. I dont think any F1 ticket should be over $250 unless its something really special...... The same with the HD stuff here in america has been on all over the states since October 29, 1998. Nascar has been in HD here in the states since 2004. the NFL has been HD for god knows how long and next year some of the games will be in 3D! sorry i know i sorta just went off and no one cares but it made me feel better lol i cant stand this anymore the sport i love is going to kill itself slowly and i hate it.....
