Ferrari might not have released any lap times for Felipe Massa’s latest test but Random Chimp spotted them experimenting with their rie height during the test. See the Comment of the Day for more.

Mercedes’ F1 site will be live soon, probably to coincide with their livery launch on Monday.

Comment of the day

Sharp-eyed Random Chimp made an interesting spot while examining the pictures from Massa’s test:

Is it me or is the ride height ridiculously high in the title image?

Here’s the picture in question:

From the forum

Lots of launch season anticipation going on in the forum – check out: ‘What do you look forward to most about launches?’

Site updates

I’m adding information pages on each of the new teams – first up is Mercedes Grand Prix, follow that link for basic details and a short background history on the team. We should get more information about the team staff on Monday.

There’s also a list of every Mercedes F1 driver but as you can imagine there’s only nine names on it. I’ve begun work on the same information for Lotus which is going to take a bit longer to finish!

Happy birthday!

No F1 Fanatic birthdays today. If you want a birthday shout-out tell us when yours is by emailling me, using Twitter or adding to the list here.

On this day in F1

Carlos Reutemann made a splash on his F1 debut on this day in 1972. The Argentinian driver put his Brabham on pole position at his home circuit. But Jackie Stewart took the lead at the start and was never headed all race long, while Reutemann finished out of the points in seventh.

It looks like F1 is set to welcome a new Argentinian driver with the news that US F1 are poised to confirm Jose Maria Lopez as one of their drivers for 2010.

  1. Does it appear to anyone else that the Ferrari has already begun to turn in, as it approaches the right-hand corner?

This would unload the right rear of the car, providing the appearance of a much higher ride than in actuality.

    1. Could be – will have to have a look at some pictures from last year to tell.

      1. I’d be amazed if that was the case, unless he was running a very soft suspension setup or the tyres were not fully up to pressure.

    2. Well noted dsob, you can’t just draw a conclusion from a shot like that, better that you look at one where the cars is standing still.

  2. A sad day. The awesome BrawnGP website has now been taken offline – it was so fan focussed and full of info. I contacted them asking if they could keep the website but just ‘rebrand’ it but keeping the same design with Mercedes colours. Doesn’t look likely does it?

    1. As long as it’s better than Nico Rosberg’s pretentious, flash-ridden monstrosity:

      http://www.nicorosberg.com/

      1. I was just thinking it was good that Mercedes has got some pompous Rosberg material up already! :)

      2. I’d never seen that before…EEK!!

      3. Just laughing at the Nico site. Especially the ‘my frame’ section!

      4. Rosberg’s site really is a load of rubbish, if it was a TV ad it would be one for perfume, as they usually try to be arty with models trying to looking serious and end up being funny for all the wrong reasons.

Shame the Brawn site has been taken down, I intended to download some pictures from it but never got round to it.

      5. AHHHH! ‘this is my personal voyage’…!!!!

    1. OUCH! that site is awful!
