FOTA launch F1 fan survey

The F1 teams’ association has launched a new survey of fans’ opinions of the sport.

It promises to be the “most exhaustive” survey yet and they’re not kidding – the questions cover pretty much every topic including where races should be held, overtaking, safety, broadcasting and more.

One of the more controversial questions asks whether F1 races should be ‘Longer, shorter or much shorter’. The weighting of the question is a bit of a giveaway – there’s no option for ‘much longer’ or even ‘keep them the same length’ which I think a lot of fans would go for.

The results promise to make interesting reading – hopefully FOTA will publish the responses in full and not just cherry-pick the bits they like best.

Take the survey here.

Hmmmm …were the questions relationg to how much we knew about LG really necessary?

And why could we only give quantitative data? Why no qualitative stuff?

    1. I noticed the LG questions too. Cute. But I guess since they are putting up the money for the survey they felt entitled to toss in a few questions of their own as well. I really didn’t mind, but I thought that one question about how their products were viewed was funny. The only options were postive ones.

    2. Yeah I might have just been clicking buttons randomly by that point.

      1. I doubt any changes would be made from the fans opinions anyway. Seems like they’re on their own agenda.

    3. Why must a survey about f1 be conducted by a company that, i think, makes toasters!!
i really dont see what good will come of the survey as i found myself compromising on most answers! F! is an intellectual sport, please allow us to at least give the oppertunity to give honest, informitive answers!!

      1. i forgot they also make air conditioners.

        1. Oh they do! I forgot that one too.

LG does all of Formula 1’s time-keeping. They don’t just make toasters.

        1. LG does **** all time keeping in F1, so far they have paid to get their logo displayed, timing systems were exctly the same in 2009 as they were in 2008, and 2010 should be the same as well.

Seriously, they pay probably a lot of money to be “F1 partner”, it’s fair game to check how much impact it has on their image.

          1. well if they do do the timing, they seriously stuffed it up in qualifying in hungary. that was mildly amusing

  2. Umm, Keith, thats so not the question they are asking (re: race lenght). The don’t ask what length people would prefer, they ask “If we WERE to change it, would you change your viewing habits?”
So if you say “I would watch less” for all 3 options, its pretty obvious you feel strongly that race lengths shouldn’t be changed. If the made the races shorter, would you watch more, less or the same? Longer, more, less or the same?

The question is NOT “Should races be longer or shorter” with no option of them staying the same.

    1. Exactly, thats how I figured it out while filling it… But some blank space for comments would have been good…

    2. They’re asking for people’s opinions on changing the race length, albeit rather clumsily, as if they didn’t want to actually come out and say “should F1 races be shorter”.

      1. The question is more precise and subtle than simply “should F1 races be shorter”. They want to know HOW MUCH TIME you would spend watching the race on TV. Thus, you could still spend more minutes watching a longer race even though you don’t watch all of it. More time spent in front of the TV = more advertising money for the TV companies.

      2. Clumsy is right.
Much simpler just to say “What do you think about the length of races? – Much too short, too short, about right, too long, much too long.”

        1. Well no, because what they want to know is if they go ahead and shorten it, will you stop watching?

Thats something they won’t find out by asking what you think of the race distance.

          1. Exactly – it wasn’t clumsy, it was very clever. They want to know how changing the race distance will change your behaviour.

I notice the section on “record it later if it’s on at 1am” doesn’t have an option for “Wait for the BBC coverage to show up on a torrent” :)

          2. Fair point.

  3. umm, where was the survey, all i cld do was fill out my contact info…

I have that problem as well, I only get to fill in my name and e-mailaddress, no questions about F1 whatsoever

      1. Can somebody please tell us what we are doing wrong? I have wanted something like this for years. Until I get it working, is there a question regarding onboard cameras? Every car should be fitted with at least a roll hoop mounted camera so we don’t have any more controversy caused by lack of cameras.

        1. I wonder if it is a browser issue. I had no problem with the link.

And yes, there were several questions about onboard cameras and how we would like to use them.

        2. Ok got it working, just say you are above 18. It wasn’t working whilst I was entering my actual age. If that isn’t how it worked for me, then try 3 or more times because it worked on my third attempt.

        2nd February 2010, 12:35

I would like to correct to that, first I filled in that I was younger than 18 (I’m 16 in fact). Now I have filled in that I was 45-54 years old (my father’s age) and I managed to get through. Somehow Fota isn’t interested in my opinion, because i’m too young. Why? I’m a F1 fanatic from the Netherlands that has been watching F1 since 1998. Quite high educated (I’ll be in university in two years) and it would hard to find a bigger F1 diehard than me. Can you hear me, FOTA? Age doesn’t matter, I have an opinion and I want you to hear it!

        1. Yep, I did that too and it worked straight away. In other words; FOTA only care about the fact that we have bothered to try and are only interested in our age. I too am 16 years old and F1 is my life, I couldn’t live without it now. I am probably one of the biggest fans in Australia and I have so many opinions and concerns I have wanted to voice for so long. Now we finally get the chance, you have to be an adult or your place in society is as irrelevant as your opinions in the eyes of FOTA. Oh well, thats my gripe, I have it working now.

        2. Companies care about the demographic with the most disposable income – and, on average, 16 year olds aren’t it.

          1. But they should see us as future consumers and while I am not spending thousands of dollars a year on F1 related products, I am a person who is likely to follow F1 for the entirity of my life. (should F1 exist for such a period is questionable given the current direction)

I can only speak for myself but I know for a fact there are thousands of fans my age worldwide that appreciate F1 as I do, therefore FOM, FOA or Bernie himself; whoever it is calling the shots regarding the future of my favourite thing on Earth should be doing all they can to retain interest within everyone, disregarding age. This will in turn, gernerate new interest and new fans will continue to be bred. F1 should remain as is, it just needs to be patched up on the broadcasting side.

        3. It might be legal issues, because they are also offering prizes. Perhaps those under the age of majority are not allowed to enter such contests?

          1. Well I have entered anyway. I suppose that is the reason, but if that is the case, I don’t see why they even put the under 18 option there… Under 18s are always going to say they are over if they want to be part of it anyway.

  4. Done it!

    1. Why am I allowed to keep doing it time after time?

      That’s a bit of a flaw in the survey isn’t it…

  5. Laughed at the WDC top 3 winter world tour idea. Oh how Kimi would have loved that one!

    1. lol Yeah can you imagine?

What a ridiculous idea. It sounds like the kind of thing that was brainstormed using a white board and a spider chart in a marketing and outreach development strategy meeting in an office in Milton Keynes by people in suits who’ve never really watched a race but have had paddock passes Silverstone and didn’t leave hospitality even to see the start.

  6. The technology page, if you get to around 40% into the survey, is the one where I bet most of us get to vent our spleen :)

    1. My spleen is a considerable way from being fully vented.

      1. I’d hate to be there when it was :-)

  7. Remember, when filling out this survey, make out you’re a casual fan (i.e. only watch a few races a season etc.) I read somewhere FOTA are only interested in attracting the casual fan, not the enthusiasts (I guess they take us for granted!) some important bits – say your less likely to watch if the races are shorter, say you want classic venues and don’t like the new ones, and finally that there should be a bigger gap between first and second in the points.

    1. Good idea, I will be lying in that case but it is for the better if there is a chance to restore some normality to the sport… I will follow your advice as soon as I get it working! Why won’t it work for some?

      1. Answering my above question for those who are still unsure; when you start, make sure you say you are over 18.

    2. I could easily believe that they are more interested about casual fans than people like us, coupled with the way the question about race length is supposed to be worded makes me worry what changes they will try to implement by using the results of this survey to justify them.

    3. That does make sense, it felt so wrong saying i was a moderate fan!

I wonder how many “casual” fans will even know about the survey, let alone spend the time to answer all the questions..? Can’t help thinking they’re targeting the wrong people in the wrong way

        1. I mentioned this before in a different thread.

Casual fans will not fill out surveys. It is just the proper fans, but those in charge will not take our views seriously. And for those teams whose members mention
“TO IMPROVE THE SHOW” should have 100 points deducted from both championships each and every time they do it.

  8. Interesting that Kimi and Sebastian Bourdais are still options for favorite driver!!!

    1. Nothing wrong with that!

      Umm… no I am not a Kimi fan… honest…
      *crosses fingers*

Just wondering, how did we all answer the questions on the new points system and potential ‘bonus’ points for pole, fastest-lap etc?

    1. potential ‘bonus’ points for pole, fastest-lap etc?

Was there a question on that? I don’t remember it.

      1. Magnificent Geoffrey
        2nd February 2010, 12:52

There was a section with a question on your thoughts on the new points system introduced, and then I believe the second question was about your opinion on points being awarded for the most overtakes in a race and for other achievements or something like that, I think. I may have read the question wrong or just be going bonkers.

        1. Must say, I never saw anything about bonus points. I replied I’m happy with the new points system as I just want them to stop changing things all the time.

          1. I never saw anything to do with bonus points either.

        2. Me neither.

    2. I reckon there are different versions of the survey depending on where you are from. Remember they offer English and American as different language options but that is total bs. They’re not asking us about faucets and pants. I’m going to take the American version as well to see. You can take the survey as many times as you like from what I tell.

      1. There were 1 or 2 subtle differences in wordings for answers.

  10. Interesting that Nelson Piquet Jr wasn’t an option on the Favourite Driver question, even though the likes of Badoer, Bourdais and Nakajima were. I wonder why that might be…

    1. Well spotted!

    2. Yeah even I missed that.

  11. i thought this was the best survey yet. as a sponsor, lucky goldstar is entitled to a little self-promotion here. the ing-sponsored surveys were no different.

  12. Well that’s not exactly what I would call the most exhaustive or hard hitting bit of consumer research I have ever been a part of…

  13. “Informative and engaging TV commentary ”

    ++++ Very very important.

I suppose as it’s for international markets they can’t just put down “Is Legard Useless?”
“Should it be a three man team between Crofty, Ant, and Brundle in there?”

    1. Haha, I also put very important of course with Legard in mind!
Keith, you mentioned that Legard said hi to you at the McLaren launch, does this mean he’ll be commentating again? God help us (and my TV which I may kick or throw something at)lol.

      1. All the BBC team were re-signed for this year a few weeks ago. I didn’t have a problem with Legard before and now I’ve met him all I can add to that is he’s a nice bloke who’s excited about the new season for the same reasons most of us are – the intra-McLaren battle, the return of Schumacher, Alonso and Massa at Ferrari and so on.

        1. Thanks Keith, I never doubted that he was a nice guy it’s just that I didn’t think he was up to the job as a tv commentator, but that’s a personal preference really. Good to know the rest of the team are back.

        2. I’d second that Legard is clearly a good bloke, and outside the commentary box, knows his stuff. Inside the commentary box, he’s a disaster of epic proportions.

          1. he has a few diamonds in the rough, tho. i’m re-watching the entire 2009 season now, and during the german gp:
brundle: since he’s retired from the race, the incident involving raikkonen will be investigated after the race.
legard (without missing a beat): well, how’s that help anybody?

i was laughing for 5 minutes.

  14. I wonder if they will take any of our answers onboard and actually improve some things? I think that F1 should not be changed at all, just the broadcasting so the fan gets better entertainment. All these rule changes are supposed to improve the show but I bet they are driving people away.

Things like HD, more onboard cameras, more team radio and improved broadcasting are of greater concern to everyone rather than shortcuts, medals, rule changes, bland modern circuits and lengthening the already appropriate duration of the race.

  15. Name 5 sponsors of F1 racing…
    1. Marlboro
    2. Shell
    3. Hugo Boss
    4. Mercedes
    5. Vodaphone

Hmmm…What does that say about me?

    1. LOL, ditto

      1.Marlboro
      2.Shell
      3.Vodafone
      4.Red Bull
      5.Virgin

Odd thing is, you never tend to see ‘Marlboro’, not in Euro part of season anyway, guess the dumb bar-code does work after all.

      1. I took it as current sponsors/brands (2009/10).

        so i put:

Bridgestone (it’s on ever car, several times)
        Mercedes
        Ferrari
        Red Bull
        ING

    2. Are you by any chance, a long term supporter of McLaren?

      1. That was directed at Alex Bkk by the way…

    3. I delibrately made them all cigarette companies!

      Marlboro
      Camel
      West
      John Player Special
      Gold Leaf

      1. Gold Leaf! Blimey GeeMac, Lucky Strike or Rothmans were a little more recent. When was GL – about 68?

        1. Marlboro, Vodafone, Virgin, Red Bull, West. My top five that spring to mind.

        2. Yeah I know, realised that after I pressed next page! I had Lotus on the brain, I just finished reading an article which went on about Heikki’s new Lotus Evora…so I just rattled off all the ciggie companies who sponsored Lotus!

      2. We want turbos
        2nd February 2010, 14:56

I thought it said sponsor? Not sponsored??

      3. ha good man GeeMac, give the nanny state a good kick! ha.
        i put

        Marlboro
        vodafone
        tag heur
        LG (just to please them!)
        can’t remember the last one.

      4. Haha – I did exactly that too! Except:

        Rothmans
        Camel
        Marlboro
        Mild Seven
        John Player Special

        :D

    4. Marlboro
      Vodaphone
      Red Bull
      Virgin
      something else

    5. I put Santander, Vodafone, Red Bull, Petronas and Kingfisher.

      1. I put Kingfisher! They just sprung into my mind. As did Alice!!!

        1. I have put AT&T, Philips, RBS, Vodafone and Red Bull – take a wild guess which team I have put down for favorite one ;)

          1. Can’t believe no one said about Fosters! They sponsored so many Grands Prix!

    6. My first one was Marlboro too! And ING got in as well despite leaving.

    7. Think I put down 7up as #1 (that first Jordan is so memorable I forget it wasn’t their constant livery!), then Rothmans, Vodafone, Marlboro, and something non-cigarettey to finish. I had to spend at least 5 minutes preventing myself from leaving “Yore Ma” down as a memorable sponsor though.

The problem is that the ciggie companies tended to have their livery dominate the car, and other sponsors, though they plastered the side, had to toe the colour line. So the classic Marlboro McLarens, Rothmans Williams, B&H Jordans, JPS Lotus were all one “block” of branding. Whereas now, it’s rare to see one sponsor dominate, unless it’s a Red Bull, and they’re so busy and complicated they just don’t have the impact.

    8. I put in:

      Red Bull
      Santander
      Marlboro
      ING
      Vodaphone

  16. Oh, and another bugbear from the survey. Wanted to vote for San Marino GP in the protect circuits section. And didn’t see option to dump Valencia (street, not test track)!

And yes I know that San Marino is already gone, but so is France, but that was on the list.

    1. I put Spain in my least important hosts as they don’t need two races, one of which is Valencia, with a strong emphasis on Belgium, Britain, Brazil, Italy and I think Japan. Also selected all the countries with Tilkedromes as least fav – I hope they understand that to mean no more Tilke, no more street circuits!

      1. Being biased I said SA needed a GP… let’s see if FOTA are really listening! ;-)

  17. Didn’t understand

How would you describe the frequency with which you watch Formula One Grand Prix races on TV in a season? Would you say you . . .

    Watch 1-3 races
    Watch 4-9 races
    Watch 10-12 races
    Watch more than 12 races
Do not watch any Formula One races on TV

Many people watch all the race in TV!

    1. Did Liked

If the following were available to you how interested would you be in each of them?

      With an option
Downloading F1 races from a website to watch

      1. The downloading from website to watch could include previous races? That’s how I read this one. Very nice prospect too

      2. My favourite

Should include more races on the calendar

    2. 4th option then

      1. In the winter the top three drivers in the World Championship should go on a world tour

With cars, like Top Gear road trip!!!!

        1. Why was there a survey on LG products?

          1. LG need to get something out of sponsoring the survey…

  18. I think I pretty much answered that F1 should be Eurocentric with a round in beach of North America, South America, Japan and Australia, with little regard to driver safety, technology, causal fans, tv footage of the pit wall, or caring at all about sponsors.

And all of it should be broadcast in glorious HD.

Just curious, when it asked you to name 5 brands you associate with F1… how many of you put ING? They were first in my head because of that awful livery and jumping ship when everything got a bit cheaty. No such thing as bad publicity, eh?

    1. …with a round in *each*…

      although a Dakar-style monster-truck F1 race over a sandy beach would be a sight.

    2. ING did not leap to mind, but I tell you who else no one has mentioned – Santander! Most of the trophies are even in the shape of their logo. Guessing their marketing ploy ain’t working.

      1. I struggled on this one, first to mind were AT&T and Vodafone which maybe goes to show how valuable that title sponsoring is.

        1. Considering AT&T are a title sponsor, you’d think all that money would buy them some more prominent bodywork areas.

      2. Did anyone else put Tag Heuer?

      3. Santander was my first brand, the latest lewis hamilton ads probably done that though for me

  19. Quite a couple of questions about f1 and the enviroment. How do you all think about that? I think it should be allowed, but not forced. So let the teams expirement with different fuels/other engines but dont force them to do so. And with the sponsors question, tabacco companies immidiately came to my mind. They sure gave some beautifull liverys.

    1. I’m guessing they were talking about currentsponsorship, so no Tobacco came to mind. Red barcodes don’t count anyway.

With regards to environmental issues, I don’t really think ‘Formula One’ and ‘Green’ can be used in the same sentence. sure, they can reduce costs and lower the amount of equipment they haul around the world, but when it comes to the racing… burn rubber and petrol, baby!

      1. I’m totally with you on this one ajokay, the two just don’t go.
Besides, if you really want to concentrate on environmental concerns, how about eating less beef (or soy beans or palm oil) or using less concrete (a huge co2 emitter) or actually use tax and vat levied on petrol in countries on providing good, clean, efficient and affordable public transport systems?!? The whole business of global warming is skewed and the relatively small amount of fuel F1 uses is but a pittance.
        /rant over

        1. Disagree. The rapid pace of development in F1 could provide a great R&D ground for clean, renewable and recyclable technologies and could help provide solutions for other problems outside F1.

It’s inevitable that oil will run out some day so if you want the sport to continue after that it will have to make the change sooner or later. The sooner the better if you ask me.

  20. We want turbos
    2nd February 2010, 14:59

Yeah why no comments?? All F1 needs regarding racing is to bring back turbos, get rid of the tescos at the side of every corner and allow kers to be more powerful! Also I would promote a hybrid f1 idea with kers think of the start they would get!!!!

  21. Pedel to the Vettel
    2nd February 2010, 15:33

the way i would improve F1 is to stop having laps and have a timer instead, that will keep them going flat out.

    1. That’s actually not a bad idea!

      1. Oh, I misread. I thought you meant there were no timing screens so no one knew any laptimes other than a stopwatch on the pit wall $:)

        1. It’s kind of an interesting idea. I don’t know though if it would just end up being a slightly more complicated version of what we’ve already got. Think about rainy races that are subject to the current time limit.

  22. I thought the survey was good overall however……

I think they either failed miserably, or perhaps deliberately, to ask the 2 most important questions that fans REALLY want to have a voice on……

    1) Do you think the FIA should continue to introduce new rules every year in an attempt to make racing more exciting?

    2) Do you think the FIA over regulate and should stop changing the rules every year?

I have a strong suspicion that they left this and a comments section out, purposely.

    1. Well, they did have a ‘there should be less politics in F1’ question..

I’d be thankful of that at least! I wasn’t expecting anything more to be honest.

      1. I actually enjoy all the F1 politics. They should just ensure it’s all between people who don’t actually make the decisions, though!

  23. How about this for an idea Keith?

Get together the thoughts of the DIE HARD F1 fans on your site and make a survey of your own and send it to FOTA for them to read and see the results you have to realise what the fans really want.

They might be surprised at the difference of your survey results to their own.

      1. I think that’s a good idea, maybe something to discuss when the forums go back up. You or someone else could organise it Scunnyman ;)

        1. Great idea.
Survey with straightforward, simple questions, about things that bother and interest us most. And without filling in what LG company actually do.

    1. I think this is a great idea. It’s just as important to see if the already interested, enthusiastic viewers / fans / customers / etc. are thinking about the sport. Which is why I think it was hardly a good thing for FOTA to at least create the impression they’re more interested in what the casual fans have to say at the point of this survey.

      1. to see *what* they’re thinking, actually, not if. Gah.

    2. +1 to this idea Keith.

Any survey you produce doesn’t have to be overly complicated, or full of fluffy, unnecessary brand awareness questions.

That would instantly make it a hundred times better than this load of guff we’ve been ‘urged’ to fill out, which coincidentally (and perhaps unsurprisingly) I think is a load of rubbish: http://www.motorsportmusings.co.uk/2010/02/survey-schmurvey/

      1. I do think it’s a bit long and complicated. But they have asked a lot of important questions including quite a few the FIA never bothered to in their 2005/6 surveys.

But I think having a “for the fans” survey running at the same time is a great idea. We’d need to solve two things:

        1. How to create the survey from a technical point of view (I’m happy to host it here and buy a domain name).
        2. How to get it translated into lots of different languages (My basic German and ten-weeks-of-lessons Italian won’t cut it!)

If you’d like to volunteer to help, leave a comment below saying what you can do.

        1. I’ll volunteer to help but I’m no good on the language front. Maybe I could help with the technical side but I’m not expert.

        2. would be a great idea to boost the awareness of F1fanatic too!

        3. Mouse_Nightshirt
          4th February 2010, 11:31

TBH, I don’t think a survey for “Die-Hard” fans is at all necessary.

1: The survey will be split up depending on your answers to the first few questions on how much you follow F1 anyway.

2: By definition, us die-hard fans are going to continue watching regardless, which in essence means our views aren’t needed as much as someone who flits between watching and not.

3: The survey is aimed at trying to understand occasional followers of F1; they’re trying to gain and retain people.

4: The sponsorship/brand awareness questions are important; it demonstrates to sponsors if F1 is any use to it. It’s quite indicative and important for the sport as a whole, and will show some useful and interesting trends – isn’t it odd that the first sponsor that came to mind for me was Marlboro?

5: Just to reinforce – our views as die-hard F1 fans are not important to the sports survival, at least on that survey – maybe if you changed all the cars to hovercars and installed weaponry on them we might stop following, but otherwise we are going to follow regardless.

If you need a version in Dutch, so that the people from Holland and Flanders (the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium) can join in I’m willing to help. I can do German as well, aber mein Deutsch ist noch nicht perfekt (but my German isn’t perfect yet).

        5. This is a good idea, and I would like to help.

I might be able to help with translating it in Dutch, Czech, German, possibly French as well, maybe I could arrange Polish too.

I think it would be great, to get attention for it on other forums as well, possibly in different countries.

  24. I’ve done it, but really no survey necessary. Just spend a few hours browsing sites like these and they’d have all the answers they need.

    1. That seems like exactly the thing they wouldn’t do. I think it’s worth doing the work for them and giving them the data.

  25. @ K and Michel S

I try not to vent my spleen on the subject of F1, for fear of injuring those around me :D

Also, being 15 I had to lie about my age to take the survey…

  26. 100 points, I make that four race wins! I can’t beleive that button would have practicly double his title score by turkey if he made an identicle start to the season this year!!

  27. If other surveys F1 Racing did in the past are any indication they will cherry-pick data we gave them and present them in their print edition.
I like their intro to their first survey – we promise we won’t ask you what your favorite track is and then remove it from the calendar next year (that happened to Spa Francorchamps after survey FOM did).

I didn’t speculate and answered what was first thing on my mind.

  28. I put:

    Vodafone
    Mercedes
    Petronas
Ferrari (though I guess they arent really a ‘Sponsor’ – but neither are Mercedes)
    Panasonic

I thought about ING – but knowing that they pulled out, i figured I wouldnt put it in.

  29. Hmm, I left out the manufacturers despite thinking of them first:

    Red Bull
    Puma
    Santander
    Vodafone
    Petronas

How many races have you attended in the last 12 months? – zero! I want my US GP back!! Can’t wait until Bernie dies!

    1. brilliant

  30. Is anyone having trouble doing the survey?
I fill in my country age and gender, then when click next it skips to the end of the survey!

    1. I got 3/4ths through it on my phone and it crapped out. I think they are having a lot of issues.

  31. LG are sponsors hence the stupid questions at the end- only to be expected but please take part!
FOTA have asked us at FOFA to please enlist your help in getting as many participants as possible so please join in and help get us- FOFA- your fans organisation on the map as we want to be running this next year!
    Thanks!

  32. my 5 were:

    Santander
    Vodafone
    ING
    Petronas
    Shell.

    I loved that questionnaire!!

  33. I appreciated questions about Internet streaming and HD broadcasting. Good thing they started to think about it. Quite late, but better than never. ;]

However there seemed to be a lot of questions about the same thing, like technology in F1. They wanted to take so close look at it they needed to double-check?

Actualy at ‘top5 sponsors’ page I filled in “I don’t care about it” 5 times, I think they’ll get angry. ;/

    1. Oh, and question about Winter World Tour made my day. ^^

      1. Yeah they will visit many countries with their cars, like the Top Gear RoadTrip

  34. It may be the way my mind reads things, but if the races were longer I’m quite certain I would be watching it more.

  35. What about Mubadala

  36. Guys,I went on it,it asked me my age, where i am from and my phone number and that’s it.It didn’t give me a quiz at all.

  37. tried to appear as ‘slightly interested fan’ (assuming they want those fans to go watch more)

Assuming Monaco will always be sustained, I top rated:
    Belgium
    Italy
    UK
    Japan
    Brazil

And all the Tilke crap (except Singapore)
    as ‘need to go’ venues.

    etc etc

One more thing: o free text, except for the brands…
    My favourite ‘brands’:
    1. no top ten handicaps
    2. no artificial overtaking
    3. no two tyre rule
    4. no more ‘improving the show’
    5. stop ‘improving the show’
    (last one for emphasis…)

    1. (oh and I told them that F1 really makes me buy products and that I know everything from LG and love them, so they keep on throwing money to our beloved sport)

  38. Guys- fantastic comments and certain “miffs” I will be taking up directly with FOTA- keep the comments coming!

  39. I agree a simple survey devoid of advertising and with non leading questions eg Race Length would be very helpful. Let the survey begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. I disliked how they only gave positive options for what do think of LG products

    Over priced

    Grossly over styled

    Poor servicing centers

    i agree with:

    John H says:

I’ve done it, but really no survey necessary. Just spend a few hours browsing sites like these and they’d have all the answers they need.

    We need FOFA

  41. Until they make the cars AT LEAST 1 meter shorter, there will be no close racing

  42. I’ve completed the survey and can’t say I like the way they have gone about it…

  43. One thing ill say is that if they want a true F1 World Champion, they better think about going into Africa (South Africa probably) and going oval racing in the USA.

That way the F1 guys wint get ripped on by the US based drivers for not doing a oval race. And that there should be at least one F1 race in every contenent.

The other thing id do is make races a set distance, like the street races are all 250Km races, and the rsts are 350Km races, but for a little change for a couple or three races a season, have a 500Km race.

Give the teams the choice of what ever strateegy they want, EG; Refuel if they want to, or run with a full race distance in the tank. Also give the teams free reign over what tyre compound they want, out of 3 posibles. Of whitch they have 5 sets of Soft, 4 sets of medium and 3 sets of hard.

Id like to see the sporting side opened up alot. Thats the only way i think that theyre can be fast and open racing thats exciting.

All this if theres a loophole, close it ASAP needs to stop. Rules need to be sustained for a period of 3 years at minimum, and if someone wants it changed, tough, adapt and resolve or die, in a technical stand point.

  44. See, we should have lied on the form and said we were barely interested in F1 and then asked for all the things we wanted to see in F1. FOTA have basically admitted they only really care about bringing in the casual fans, so we should have been a bit more clever about it ;-)

  45. There was 1000 dollars of prize to one person who fill the survey. Do you know something about it? Has someone got the prize?
