  1. Did Buemi make a second stop near the end of the race? If not that’s some pretty impressive lap times by him.

    1. I think just when Hulkenberg and Petrov(?) did

    2. No he one stopped. He had a problem with his car too after contact on the first lap.

    3. buemi stopped twice, the first one to change option tyres, the second: tyres and wing of his front… anycase u think he can fly!

Second fastest lap from Alonso with no clutch. That’s crazy.

    1. Yeah. Just imagine how fast he would have been with a working clutch.

    2. he was inprovising the gear everytime… i think he was magnificent!! don’t u?

  3. Totally agree, stunning time(s) from Alonso with that problem. I can’t think of any other driver, Hamilton included, that could drive around such a major problem so spectacularly. Maybe Schuey in his heyday?
I so wish Alonso had handled his days at McLaren better. Although I have to say he’s putting that all very far behind now.

    1. I think Schumacher definitely could, such as the 1994 Spanish GP, when he was stuck in 5th gear for most of the race.

That’s what makes him a double world champion. I just hope his best drives are still to come.

  4. vettel wasnt very impressive on lap times but that obvious since he was crusing at the final stages where fuel and rubber on track were on the drivers side alonso very quick

  5. These times just deny that Red Bulls don’t have race pace. And if it was necessary, they could drive much faster

    1. Yeah, they simply had no need to rush, cause otherwise they can get some tehnical issues

  6. Goes to show the race would of been more interesting with Ferrari and Mclaren at the front.

Great drive from Alonso but don’t forget Hamiltons times were affected by following Sutil. Having said that Alonso was probably the fastest driver of the day given his problems

  7. why should vettel destroy the car getting the fastest time when he is leading by a decent margine, and with his rivals miles behind him? just means the engine is in a better condition then Alonso’s for the next race.

Bet he was smiling the whole way when he got infront of Rosberg and Webber.

    1. I don’t think he would have smiled until he saw the chequered flag in his mirror…

Nice to see Buemi putting in some fairly quick laps this is probably due to the fact that in the latter part of the race he was in clear air and could push unlike other drivers ahead of him who were probably saving their tyres.

    1. did buemi stopped twice? jaime was fantastic, do u prefer seb?

  9. Gah, I went for Alonso fastest lap on my Badger prediction, the exact opposite of the first race.

  10. I am very suspicious about numbers and statistics, but at end they will tell us, at least, who will be the champion. So, I compiled the data about the fastest laps. The only thing I could figured out of these data is, Massa´s lead isn´t “not deserving’ at all. He did a good job this race. Draw your own conclusions.

    Driver Number of %
    (alph. order) fastest laps

    Adrian Sutil 5 10%
    Felipe Massa 11 22%
    Fernando Alonso 6 12%
    Lewis Hamilton 4 8%
    Mark Webber 7 14%
    Nico Rosberg 4 8%
    Robert Kubica 2 4%
    Sebastian Vettel 6 12%
    Sebastien Buemi 5 10%

    1. thanx 4 this, as we can see, there are all the fastest drivers in malaysia…

  11. Can I ask were you obtain these statistics please Keith. I love stats, I can’t get enough.

    1. The FIA publishes the data after each race on their site.

  12. I don’t know if anyone was paying attention to pit stop speeds.

I heard Brundle talk about it at some stage when one team posted 4 seconds flat (I can’t remember which one) and he mentioned it was the fastest so far in the season after Red Bull had done it in 4.1 at the last meeting.

They didn’t mention it as they were blabbering about something else, but a 3.5 second stop was done soon after by McLaren.

Can someone confirm this? I had a few drinks while watching the race so I can’t remember if I got the team right, but I’m sure it was a Hamilton pit stop.

Even so, we still havent seen the sub 3 seconds that were claimed prior to the season starting.

  13. yes, buemi stop twice, the second one at the 20 last laps…
anycase ‘how thinks buemi is better than jaime?? i couldn’t say
