Will Fernando Alonso win his home Grand Prix?

It’s time to make your predictions for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Name the pole sitter and the top five finishers to be in with a chance of winning tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix plus loads more prizes.

The prizes

This year we’re giving away a pair of prizes every race weekend.

On top of that at the end of the year the top 12 finishers all get prizes – and whoever scores the highest overall will be going to the 2011 British Grand Prix. Here are the prizes in full:

Grand prize: Two grandstands tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix

The person who scores the most points in the 2010 F1 Fanatic Predictions Championship will win grandstand tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

This is the first time we’ve offered F1 race tickets as a prize at F1 Fanatic and I hope you all agree it’s a fitting reward for the F1 expert who can best predict who will be on top in 2010.

The grand prize winner will receive tickets to all three days of the 2011 British Grand Prix with reserved grandstand seating for the race.

Second place prize: An F1 painting of your choice

The second place finisher in the championship will win an F1 painting by Rob Ijbema.

You get to choose which F1 driver, present or past, will feature in the painting. Or you can pick one of the other motor racing paintings on Rob’s site Car-a-day.

Runners-up prizes: Autocourse 2010-2011

The ten players who finish in third to 12th positions in the championship will win a copy of the 2010-2011 edition of Autocourse.

The highly respected journal of Formula 1 and other major international four-wheeled racing series is published at the end of every season.

This year the publication marks its 60th anniversary edition.

Race winners prize: The Lotus Story DVD Box Set

Duke Video are supplying the prize for the player who gets the highest score in each round.

With the Lotus name returning to F1 in 2010 what better prize than a DVD box set showing the history of this great team. This four-disc set “The Lotus Story” chronicles Lotus’s participation in F1 from the company’s beginning in 1948 up to its F1 withdrawal in 1994.

Duke are also offering a special promotion exclusive to all F1 Fanatic readers – whenever you order from them you can get 15% off using the promotional code F1Fanatic at the checkout.

Race runners-up prize: F1 race winner print

The second place finisher in each race will win a 40x35cm print of the race winner

This prize is supplied by Motorsport in Print.

I’ve predicted Schumi to finish 3rd. Time will tell if that was an inspired or an idiotic decision!

    1. I’ve gone for second :P We’ll see Ned, we’ll see.

      1. Second for me as well!

        1. 4th for me… I reckon the Red Bulls will be reliable and run and hide, with Alonso finishing in 3rd with some Spanish fans extra turbo charging.

          1. I also think the Red Bull’s will run away, But I think Hamiltons straight line speed will push him up to 3rd in the race, Schumacher 4th…. I rather hope I’m wrong and he wins.

    2. Without ruling out the possibility of a mechanical failure, I put Hamilton in the top three instead of Webber. And yes, Schuey deserves a podium finish here and I gave him a third.

  2. I predict Red Bull will lock out the front row, Webber will have a “marginal racing incident” that takes him out of contention and Vettel’s car will break while he is leading, taking him out of the race entirely.

    1. dsob, and how much do u charge for a horoscope reading ??? Just kidding buddy, don’t go hard on me now :-)

  3. I predict Schumi wins and everyone shuts up for awhile. :)

No if he wins all the Schumi haters will pick on something he did and pronounce it illegal and un-sportsman like.

      Dude can’t win.

      1. I think when Schumacher beats Rosberg someone will say that Mercedes are designing the car to suit Schumacher while ignoring Rosberg.

        1. And where would they get that idea?

Well Dave maybe its because he’s a seven time..

oh oh wait wait, your leading me into a trap aren’t you Dave?, what was that Admiral Ackbar?

            http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~dpadgett/ackbar.jpg

        2. Rosberg already said that he feels they developed the car away from him.

          1. No, Rosberg is saying they went the wrong way on setup, but will be back on the right settings tomorrow.

  4. Hamilton to take pole if it rains :P

    1. i’ve predicted my pole time based around a wet quali.

  5. Let’s hope rain ruins my predictions once again. I wouldn’t even mind a Schumacher win, that would spice things up. Even Alonso… god, anyone but Red Bull (I guess, so far so good then, mostly)

Is it normal for the predictions graphic to come up even if you have already entered?

  7. I’m not alone in thinking Red Bull might have a problem on race day, I’m going for Vettel being a victim of engine gremlins!

    1. i don’t mind red bull winning, i just hate it how they hog the podium with 1-2 finishs all the time.

      1. I’m sure others weren’t moaning when Brawn were in that position. Red Bull have the best kart in the field and rightly so, they should enjoy the many successive pole positions.

  8. Hi Kieth,

Seems like i can’t view the prediction once they have been entered. I initially thought it didnt go through, so i tried again and got the following:

“Your entry could not be saved to the database.
Duplicate entry \’DomPrez-25\’ for key 2”

…so im assuming it went through the first time. I’d just like to see the predictions now. is there anyway to do so at this point?

    1. same here.
Well, it did go well, but then I decided to click on the link Sush Meerkat provided…

After clicking the back button in IE7, the list was gone. To be sure, I tried to reenter, and yes, I got the duplicate message, but how to look at the list?

      1. Ah, I found a working workaround: add a comment and the list is back again

    2. All seems to be well. closed the browser, cleared the cache. maybe it is just Chrome being buggy…

  9. It won’t let me submit my predictions – any reason for this?

    1. Never mind – after I posted this comment the prediction boxes opened up!

  10. It’s going to rain. A lot. It will be at best wet-dry on Sunday. We know that Schumacher 2.0 is rubbish in the rain and Nico will throw it off the road at the wrong moment. And we will be hearing another sad set of violins from Horner on Monday about how RedSwill would have just crushed the field in a “normal” race. Fred has a busted arm. Unless Massa decies to turn up, this leaves the silver cars (not grey). Kubica may sneak in there, but probably not.

    1. THIS!

Looking at the radar there is a healthy low pressure system heading squarely towards spain. In the last 4 hours the rain chances for tomorrow have increased from 70% to 80% surely tomorrow’s qualifying will be in the wet. and If it not raining the track will be wet and slick. Vettel and red bull have shown they do not have the pace during the wet. That where Im couting on Hamilton to come through and shine in Quali and the race.

  11. I can’t submit my predictions – the boxes are not there…

  12. never mind – they finally appeared

  13. Wow I thought more people would predict a wet qualy, I just looked at the forecast on the BBC website and it says its going to rain all day tomorrow, but then again I don’t know how reliable that is.

I hope i haven’t dropped the ball on this one.

  14. I put pole time 1:19.760 won’t work ?

    1. You need to put 01:19.760

      1. That worked. Thank You

  15. I don’t think they will go under 1:20 for the pole time…

    1. They wont if it rains, but otherwise i think Vettel or Hamilton can get close to 1:19.0

  16. i predict….50 points for me!

  17. anyone know the link to watch practice 3 and quali?

“Your entry has been saved but may not be counted as it is too late”

I submitted my prediction before the countdown timer finished. Why would it be too late?

    anyone know?

    thanks

  19. Pooh too late but I think….
