Can you predict the pole sitter and top five finishers in the European Grand Prix?

There’s a stack of prizes on offer for the best predictions this weekend and loads more to be won in our Predictions Championship.

Make your predictions now.

The prizes

This year we’re giving away a pair of prizes every race weekend.

On top of that at the end of the year the top 12 finishers all get prizes – and whoever scores the highest overall will be going to the 2011 British Grand Prix. Here are the prizes in full:

Grand prize: Two grandstands tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix

The person who scores the most points in the 2010 F1 Fanatic Predictions Championship will win grandstand tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

This is the first time we’ve offered F1 race tickets as a prize at F1 Fanatic and I hope you all agree it’s a fitting reward for the F1 expert who can best predict who will be on top in 2010.

The grand prize winner will receive tickets to all three days of the 2011 British Grand Prix with reserved grandstand seating for the race.

Second place prize: An F1 painting of your choice

The second place finisher in the championship will win an F1 painting by Rob Ijbema.

You get to choose which F1 driver, present or past, will feature in the painting. Or you can pick one of the other motor racing paintings on Rob’s site Car-a-day.

Runners-up prizes: Autocourse 2010-2011

The ten players who finish in third to 12th positions in the championship will win a copy of the 2010-2011 edition of Autocourse.

The highly respected journal of Formula 1 and other major international four-wheeled racing series is published at the end of every season.

This year the publication marks its 60th anniversary edition.

This four-disc set “The Lotus Story” chronicles Lotus’s participation in F1 from the company’s beginning in 1948 up to its F1 withdrawal in 1994. (Please note this DVD is in PAL format).

Duke are also offering a special promotion exclusive to all F1 Fanatic readers – whenever you order from them you can get 15% off using the promotional code F1Fanatic at the checkout.

Race runners-up prize: F1 race winner print

The second place finisher in each race will win a 40x35cm print of the race winner

This prize is supplied by Motorsport in Print.

Alonso to take Pole, Hamilton to get the jump on the start and stay there for the rest of the race.

I do so enjoy seeing Alonso go down in front of a home crowd, especially if it’s to Hamilton.

    1. lol, I now want that to happen :D

      1. I predict the opposite. Hamilton will take pole, but in the race, he will be destroyed by Alonso.

        1. Bruno Senna will take the pole with Chandrok in the front.

  2. I cannot make prediction !

  3. I’ve taken a huge gamble on Rosberg, but if it pays off, I might be collecting a prize.

    1. for me huge gambling is the only strategie with which I can go for a grand prize.

however, I do wonder if my strategie is too much Michel Vaillant style (like Kimi on raintyres in the dry at Shanghai..)

      1. Actually (just to be really pedantic) if you;re referring to 09 then it was Malaysia where Kimi trundle around on wets when it was bone dry, then when they were wrecked it eventually rained. I’m a Ferrari fan and that really hurt.

  4. It should be Vettel’s race, but there is to many competative racers for him to handle for a whole race. He is an expectional driver when he has clean air and is not challenged. However, with the likes of Webber, Alonso and Hamilton on his butt, I think he will choke. The kid is a driver not a racer.

  5. Its time for Vettel to be in front of the rest if weather permits.

  6. I think it’s about time Red Bull had another blowout. Sadly something tells me it’ll be Webber.

  7. I’m predicting similar to the Canada result, no way I’m putting my faith in Mercedes again!

  8. I reckon Red Bull will take pole, they still have the fastest car over one lap. The question is, will it be Webber or Vettel. I always tip Vettel and he lets me down so this time I chose Webber… so expect Vettel to refind his form just to spite me!

this is so true, every time I go to make my prediction I think this.

      1. Vettel! why do you do this to me!

  9. It’s really impossible to make useful predictions this year. Especially if you have only the friday times (which say nothing).

    1. It certainly seems to be something of a lottery this year.

Even if you get teams right for the pole, there’s not much to go on for race win or top5.

  10. Giving Vettel the pole, but Webber the win. Dunno whether it will be concrete or reliability, but the Gods have fated Vettel it seems, and I for one am listening.

Alonso will be mighty, but hassled by Button non-stop. Hamilton will be ahead of Alonso again.

A dashing Rosberg to tailgate the top 5 for me.

No logic, just my own ramblings. Hope the newbies have a safe race, gonna be tricky for them to be helpful round this circuit – marbles offline are a serious factor.

  11. I will predict Chandrok and Bruno at the front. Then T Glock will win the race. That is only a prediction…

  12. Keith, what about publishing some driver stats after the predictions are closed? I.e. pole and finish position odds, top 5 odds, etc?

  13. This time around I’am least confident about my predictions all year.

um, keith, something has gone horribly amiss here. normally, after i submit my predictions, they are shown automatically, which they did when i apparently successfully submitted them about nine hours and twenty minutes ago (i did my predictions at about 02:32 uk time).

however, i’ve just checked again now, and there is some sort of super glitch. the predictions were now shown automatically, as they usually are. also, EVERY person’s predicted pole time is shown as 00:00.000.

not only that, but the date (and i presume time too) each prediction is submitted is wrong. mine is no exception.

    i’m seeing:

LucaBadoerFan 00:00.000 ALO VET BUT SCH HAM ALO 2010-03-08 19:54:44

not only is the submitted date AND time wrong, but my predictions are not what i submitted. i’m 200% sure i did ALO for pole, ALO for the win, HAM second, WEB third, i’ve forgotten who i did for fourth, and i did ROS for fifth.

am i the only seeing this? seems like some sort of super glitch, =/

    1. I’m seeing LucaBadoerFan 01:38.679 ALO ALO HAM WEB BUT ROS 2010-06-26 02:33:23

It’s alright, those are probably your Bahrain predictions, I suppose you should clear your browser cache and/or cookies.

  17. Site was down all afternoon couldn’t make my prediction, very disappointing.

    I’d go…

    Pole: Vettel
    1st: Vettel
    2nd: Alonso
    3rd: Webber
    4th: Hamilton
    5th: Massa
