Force India to run blown diffuser

Force India will run an exhaust-blown diffuser for the first time this year in practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Team principal Vijay Mallya said:

On Friday we will test the blown diffuser, which we believe will give us a big step forward. We will analyse the findings and any data will be fed back into the programme for the second half of the year. Similarly, we have some new developments on the front of the floor.

This year we have a much more balanced car over all types of tracks and, while we would look forward to Spa and Monza as high speed tracks that should suit us better, I think we will hold our own in Hungary.
Vijay Mallya

Despite a difficulty home race Adrian Sutil is happy with the team’s performance this year and described it as his “year zero” in Formula 1:

We’ll also try new parts, including a new blown diffuser on the Friday. In the past I’ve never had much luck in Hungary, but this is a new year for me, year number zero, with a competitive car, a strong position in the championship and everything to push for.
Adrian Sutil

Despite the team bringing such a major upgrade to the car reserve driver Paul di Resta will drive in first practice on Friday again, this time taking the place of Vitantonio Liuzzi:

In Hungary I’ll be getting back to my normal Friday duties, driving in FP1 when I replace Tonio. Of course, after sitting out Hockenheim, I’m looking forward to getting back out there. The Hungaroring will be another new track for me so I’ve been doing my homework, going in the simulator, looking through last year’s data and talking with the engineers to be as prepared as I can.

It looks like it’s quite a tight track and the cars don’t get going as much as at other tracks such as Silverstone or Melbourne, but I’ve always enjoyed watching the races there so hopefully it will be good to drive.
Paul di Resta

    1. Plus they have modifications to the front of the floor, so eventhough they don’t use the diffuser on sat or sunday, should give them a little data to work on. wishing them a good weekend!

    2. For all you readers my “um cool” comment is for the guy who decided to just post “I’m the first to comment”. Absolutely no disrespect to the article or poster above.

      1. Why do people do that? It’s really immature and annoying!

    3. Keith,

any news whether FI adding some people to its technical team?

    4. The team needs this as they didn’t perform that well since Canada. They have high hopes at the end of the season.

    5. I love Adrian Sutil’s attitude!

    6. now williams vs sauber vs force india will hot up in 2nd half… hope it works out perfectly for force india…

    7. The VJM03 finally being changed around…it’s been quite stagnant for quite a few races which has been shown in recent qualy perfomances.

Still, not expecting them to reach Q3 in Hungary…but they can get a few points nonetheless.
