    1. Its so damn close!

    2. Really does look like it’s going to come down to the last race of the season.

    3. Love it! So glad the 5 drivers are back in the hunt.

    4. Yeah should make Abu Dhabi and Brazil the races to watch.

    5. Lewis should’ve scored a very nice result here, considering the next GPs are RBR tracks!… what a nightmare of a weekend this was for him!

      1. I reckon he may well have lost this championship on todays result. Ferrari are gong to be taking the points he needs, they seem to have outdeveloped McLaren.

    6. Well my first of two prediction came true that there would be a DNF for Hamilton. I think there will be one for Webber as well.

Webber goes top after a poor race, looks good for RBR.

It all depends on the changes the extra tests have made if any.

If it carries on like the season so far Ferrari will be nowhere in at least two more races, but today they must be very happy.

    7. Vettel: my engine is dying!!

      *Webber passes*

Vettel: My engine is good now

      1. LOL. Talk about bad timing for Sebastian. It did however, work out Ok for him in the end.

      2. Much like in Bahrain, I think that Renault engine has gained sentience and is making it easy for Sebs rivals in an effort to preserve its own life.

        1. Or it was “team orders”?

    8. Monza isnt Lewis’s track is it. Boy oh Boy…next races are gonna be nervewracking

Ferrari Territory isnt Lewis’s Tracks think about it
        Brazil 2008:5th
        Bahrain 2009:4th
        Spain 2009:9th
        Italy 2009:DNF
        Brazil 2009:3rd
        Bahrain 2010:3rd
        Spain 2010:DNF
        Italy 2010:DNF

Note:Hasnt won in a Ferrari Territory

        1. How is Bahrain “Ferrari Territory”?

All the others make sense but Bahrain is basically camel territory.

          1. Apart from the huge ferrari centre next to the track. Lol

            1. Thats Abu Dhabi

Ferrari has always had a stronger car than McLaren on that track Massa’s two wins as well as Alonso’s in 2010 show that as well as Pole Positions from Schumi and Massa

          3. Barcelona isn’t exactly Ferrari territory either.

          4. How is Bahrain “Ferrari Territory”?

Younger Hamilton probably said that based on how Ferrari have won more Bahrain Grand Prix than all the other teams combined.

            1. Got my blockquotes wrong!

              How is Bahrain “Ferrari Territory”?

Younger Hamilton probably said that based on how Ferrari have won more Bahrain Grand Prix than all the other teams combined.

        2. Yeah, Lewis seems to like the North American, Northern European (and Belgian) tracks….probably a little due to what those fans in ‘Ferrari’ territory yell out to him when he walks around the paddock

    9. Great to see how close they are at this stage of the championship. It’s now “only” 100 points up for grabs, and this means there is only 8 guys who have a theoretic chance to win. Looks like Massa has 6th to keep it if he races on like this.

      1. Singapore
        Japan
        South Korea
        Brazil
        Abu Dhabi

        125 points

    10. It will be interesting to see what approach Red Bull do take. Dietrich Mateschitz has stated that the goal is to win both championships so given that for me it would make sense for Vettel to play a supporting role at Singapore, Japan and South Korea as these are courses that will likely suit the Red Bull package.

Given what the goals are for the team this year what do you do? Do you allow Vettel to race or do you capitalise on the Red Bull courses to help Webber and hopefully head into the final two races of the season with Webber holding a solid points buffer?

I know in the past it has usually been the drivers race until they are mathmatically out but with five guys in the hunt and a great emphasis points wise on a win I think Red Bull just has to get behind their man with Vettel going for 2nd place positions therefore Webber extending his lead by at least ten points per race.

The next three courses should suit the Red Bull car, and if the abovementioned is put into practise (disregarding reliability and brainfade moments) Webber could potentially be heading into the final two races with a 35 point lead.

Common sense is one thing, but Helmut Marko is something else though…

I think 3 out of 5 tracks that McLaren have their best chances of winning another race this season which are Suzuka,Korea and Abu Dhabi Lewis and Jenson must push very hard on those tracks and do damage limitation on the rest McLaren must PUSH NOW!!!!

    12. I was hoping for a Hamilton and Webber DNF, and I came pretty damn close to getting it! This result makes the entire championship much more interesting, and lets hope we can get 5 drivers within 20 points of each other racing for the win at Abu Dhabi.

Would be great to see whether Jenson and Sebastian play a 2nd driver role in the final race of the season.

    13. How incredibly strange this championship is.

Right after Belgium where 3 contenders didn’t score, the other 2 who did score scored meager points today. Fantastic!!

And congrats to Alonso for his first legitimate win of 2010. And full marks for giving the credit of the overtake to his pit-crew.

    14. I know being hunmble is a lot more attractive but many said it was just a two horse race now, it was only Ham vs Web and Alo had no chance but I told you so. There, I said it. :)

    15. I’m just not seein’ Weebs winning it all this year.

    16. Anyone know the maths in old money?

      1. By the unscientific method of dividing by 2.5 you get:

        Web 74.8
        Ham 72.8
        Alo 66.4
        But 66
        Vet 65.2

So 5 drivers within 9 or so points.

      2. Webber – 63
        Hamilton – 63
        Alonso – 56
        Button – 53
        Vettel – 52
        Massa – 34
        Kubica – 25
        Rosberg – 25

        And in old old money:

        Webber – 60
        Hamilton – 59
        Alonso – 53
        Button – 49
        Vettel – 48
        Massa – 30
        Kubica – 22
        Rosberg – 22

Showing once again the changes to the system were pointless (no pun intended).

        1. ‘Showing once again the changes to the system were pointless’

exactly. and no one gets it anymore! I’m sick and tired of people saying the new system is to thank for the close championship.

      [/code]

      Do code tags work?

Pts required per remaining race to lead champ’

      1. Still wide open, except Vettel can’t afford a DNF if Webber finishes in the top 3 – 4

      2. So all 5 can be champions if they win all races, no matter where others finish.

    18. Despite Webber re-takes the lead again, i say this was one of his baddest races ever. Not because of the result, we all know that the track doesn’t suit his car, so I’m not expecting to much. But Mark, you are fighting for the championship, and champions don’t win with passive driving.

today Webber lost two places just because he didn’t push on Hulkenberg. Than when he was notified by the team to push and pass him, he did easily, but it was too late! already Rosberg and he’s team mate are already in front of him.

Although i don’t like to say it but Alonso today show us how champions drive and not Webber.

      1. I think that’s a very harsh assessment. Basically the only thing Webber got wrong today was the start. He made three on-track passes (Schumacher, Kubica and Hülkenberg) on a day when few others made as many as one. And he didn’t get himself taken out on the first lap. Can’t blame him for the strategy, that would have been his team’s call.

        1. when did he pass kubica?

      2. Actually Webber put himself in a great position to overtake Hulkenberg a couple of times only for Hulk to cut the chicane and therefore keep position.

    19. It seemed that Marks impetuous ‘biffer’ team mate gave him a traditional nudge at the first corner, this driver is an ongoing hazard that should be pounced upon before the obvious happens

Championship table in Bernie Ecclestone’s winning scoring system

      1.Mark Webber-4 Wins
      2.Lewis Hamilton-3 Wins 3 2nd Places
      3.Fernando Alonso-3 Wins 2 2nd Places
      4.Jenson Button-2 Wins 3 2nd Places
      5.Sebastian Vettel-2 Wins 1 2nd Place

    21. Hasn’t Alonso got three wins, Ita, Ger, Bar

      1. ‘3.Fernando Alonso-3 Wins’

    22. This year we may see the closest ever championship of the millennium. Just in Spa I thought that Button,Vettel & Alonso are out & now it’s a two horse race, well now I have to eat my words.
