Vettel on Webber’s pace (FP1 analysis)
Mark Webber may have set the fastest lap in first practice in Singapore but team mate Sebastian Vettel set the three fastest sectors during the session.
The wet track gave few clues as to who is quicker this weekend but the Red Bull duo’s appearance at the top of the time sheets came as no surprise.

With the track wet for much of the session there’s not much to be read into the lap times from first practice.

The same color for Vet and Web on the interacvtive chart is a bad idea.

Common, it’s not the same colour dude… the same applies to all teammates! You actually see the time when you scroll over the coloured dots. I’m very grateful that Keith provides such great statistics!

Looks like Nick Heidfeld needed not much time to get into a groove here! He did say he likes the track, so that might have helped.
On the other hand comparing the fastest laps he is pretty quick and consistent, but Kobayashi set a lot faster sector times on a track he doesn’t know albeit not in the same lap.

Usually Vettel’s pretty good at stringing his best sector times together in an actual ultimate lap. Maybe the changing conditions tripped him up.

Traffic probably played a big role – it was very busy at the end of FP2.
