After 16 races we finally saw our first perfect scores in the 2010 F1 Fanatic Predictions Championship in the Japanese Grand Prix round.

Four players all netted the maximum 50 points by predicting the pole sitter and top five finishers correctly.

Jimfaekillie, winner of the British Grand Prix round and one of the four players to make a perfect prediction this week, has grabbed a healthy 27-point lead in the championship with three races to go.

The Japanese Grand Prix winner was chiliching who won the tie-breaker to prediction the pole sitter’s time. He wins a Lotus DVD boxset. Second place and a pair of F1 T-shirts from Unlap goes to Bullfrog. The other player to make a perfect prediction was mjpf1fan.

Almost three-quarters of players predicted Sebastian Vettel to take pole position and more than half tipped him to win.

Had Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button not swapped places in the dying stages 22 players would have had a maximum score.

The prizes

This year we’re giving away a pair of prizes every race weekend.

On top of that at the end of the year the top 12 finishers all get prizes – and whoever scores the highest overall will be going to the 2011 British Grand Prix. Here are the prizes in full:

Grand prize: Two grandstands tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix

The person who scores the most points in the 2010 F1 Fanatic Predictions Championship will win grandstand tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

This is the first time we’ve offered F1 race tickets as a prize at F1 Fanatic and I hope you all agree it’s a fitting reward for the F1 expert who can best predict who will be on top in 2010.

The grand prize winner will receive tickets to all three days of the 2011 British Grand Prix with reserved grandstand seating for the race.

Second place prize: An F1 painting of your choice

The second place finisher in the championship will win an F1 painting by Rob Ijbema.

You get to choose which F1 driver, present or past, will feature in the painting. Or you can pick one of the other motor racing paintings on Rob’s site Car-a-day.

Runners-up prizes: Autocourse 2010-2011

The ten players who finish in third to 12th positions in the championship will win a copy of the 2010-2011 edition of Autocourse.

The highly respected journal of Formula 1 and other major international four-wheeled racing series is published at the end of every season.

  1. Back into the Top 100!

  2. As i said the championship rules are plain wrong because now one guy with a big dose of luck has now 27 (a HUGE amount) points more than the second and the championship has been decided out of luck.

    1. I think you’re doing Jimfaekillie a disservice by saying he’s only leading because of “luck”. He’s had the top score in two rounds and consistently picked up points in the others with six double-digit scores. I don’t think anyone else has managed that.

And there’s still up to 150 points to be won in the final races.

      1. Yeah i think you’re right. I participated in every round and scored every round but never made a double-digit score. I’m just a bad predictor :P So six double-digit scores are not only the result of luck.

        1. me too. this is my first time with double digit score. 467th place out of 3,400++. not bad.

  3. Haha, I knew my personal best score of 21 wouldn’t be enough to elevate me much in the table. What a predictable race it was!

With 125pts, I’m alone at the 28th position, 49pts behind the leader, BUT only 22pts behing the 2nd place man.
    I’m fighting for the podium.

“Had Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button not swapped places in the dying stages 22 players would have had a maximum score.”
Yeah, and I would’ve scored 10pts more, with only 1 correctly predicted driver away from a perfect score.

    1. I would have been one of the 22! That damn gearbox :(

  4. Keith, what was with that automatic prediction I eluded to previously?

  5. If only, IF ONLY I had not swapped Alonso and Webber, mine would have been perfect!!! I was SO CLOSE.

  6. Wit woo 24 points, somehow (flukely) into the top 100!!!!

  7. If only Kubica hadn’t had his tire failure and/or Ham/But swap hadn’t happened. Ohh well.. Up into the 200th’s now and another double scoring.

  8. I got the pole time almost right. I predicted 1:30.735 and Vettel set 1:30.785
At least got the pole sitter and the podium right, 21pts.

  9. 31 points, finally caught back up to Steph

  10. Not a bad weekend for me.

  11. Only if Hamilton’s gear box didn’t had trouble I would have scored full 50 points.

  12. Kubica’s wheel ruined me. Mind you so did a bunch of you lot. Please stop outscoring me. Thanks in advance.

  13. Wow, I have rocketed into the top 100. Look out Felipe Massa, I am faster than you !

  14. Steph — equal points over the last two races…lets see what happens to our own personal championship over the final three. It is getting tense…! But I would gladly lose this championship…as long as Alonso or Vettel do not win it! Current Scores are:
    Steph:42
    Ayrton: 56

Good luck fellow fanatic…may the f duct be with you….

    1. F duct lol :)

I’m getting very frustrated at myself. I blew this weekend by gambling on rain of course it rained so much that it had to be postponed until it was dry! :P

Best of luck to you too. Korea and Brazil could be tough. I feel I may need to make a do or die gamble :P

  15. Only 19 points if only Robert would finish i would had the first 4 correct. Oh Keith if you score 50 points that is just luck as you notice this was the first time it happened. The most people in top 100 score a average of 11 points (AVERAGE) so it’s a lot of luck involved.

And still i think they really watch my entries and try to swap places to prevent me for a perfect score. )

    1. Oh Keith if you score 50 points that is just luck as you notice this was the first time it happened.

That’s not luck, it’s just not easy getting all five drivers in the right order, plus the pole sitter. If you get four plus the pole sitter you get 34 points. In proportional terms that’s similar to the difference between winning and finishing second in a Grand Prix.

  16. Well done Jimfaekillie.

    1. Can’t believe I’m hanging in there in 12th! Perhaps the prediction competition will go down to the wire like the WDC!

  17. hahaha lucky korea is going ahead or would have needed two maximum 50 point hauls to win. now i’ve got three races to reverse my 95 point deficit i feel i’m almost definitely going to Silverstone next summer =D
