Formula 1 adds another country to its ever-growing roster this weekend with the first ever running of the Korean Grand Prix.

The race

Stewards
Alan Jones, the 1980 world champion, joins the stewards as the drivers’ representative this weekend. It is his first time in the role.
The other FIA representative on the stewards’ panel are Gerd Ennser, board member of the German automobile club ADAC, and world motor sport council member Garry Connelly.
They will be joined by a member of Korea’s national sporting authority.
The track
The latest Hermann Tilke-designed addition to the F1 championship calendar is 5.6km long and has an unusual part-permanent, part-temporary configuration.
Late-running construction work meant the race only got the go-ahead at the 11th hour and pictures from the circuit in the days leading up to the race shows workers are still putting the finishing touches to the track.

With respect, unless you watch motor racing for the peripheral landscaping, who cares about the outfield aesthetics.
This is another Tilke Designed circuit with too many corners that lead into corners. As a former racing driver, it’s sad to watch these tracks become so formulaic. Interesting article about Tilke circuits here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/51822-is-hermann-tilke-slowly-killing-formula-one
Glad Suzuka and Spa were built before Bernie gave Tilke the carte Blanche on circuit design.
You can do it yourself by drawing 2 long straights joined by 2 hairpins and then make the rest of the circuit a series of medium speed corners with no chance of overtaking.

First time i have heard of bleacher. Mate I hope that this weekend sees a great GP as much as you do. Hope I’m wrong about the circuit. Turn 3 is where it will be at.
