Mark Webber said he would have preferred to get pole position in Korea but isn’t disappointed to be starting from second on the grid:
I wasn’t that happy on the first timed laps, I was more comfortable and more stable, for me, to do two timed [runs].
It worked out OK, obviously it was very, very close with Seb. Got second on the grid which is a lot better off than many other positions on the grid.
It would have been nice to get pole but in the end it’s still a good position to start the race, we can still do very well from there and get a good result tomorrow so qually went to plan today, I would say. Pretty close to perfect but not quite.
Mark Webber
He’s not concerned about starting tomorrow’s race from the dirty side of the grid:
Fernando will be, probably, pretty solid off the line, for sure, but it’s not going to make or break the world championship. We’ll just get through what we can and press on from there, so we’re still in a good position.

Webber sounds like he’d settle for a third place finish and retaining the points lead (narrowly) going into Brazil.

That’s not how I read it. IMO Webber thinks that even if Alonso gets the jump on him at the start, he can be faster than him in the race and take the place back, and, with his new engine, even fight with Vettel.

No mention of winning or even fighting with anyone there, just settling for a good result.

Nothing’s really said there that proves your or my opinion. We’re just making guesses of what he didn’t say, reading between the lines. One example: what does that mean “it’s not going to make or break the world championship”? Alonso getting off the line better, or Alonso finishing in front? Only Mark knows what he meant and we’ll find out tomorrow. All this may prove irrelevant anyway as there’s a huge chance of rain overnight, that’ll make Webber’s starting position better than Alonso’s.

OK, we’ll agree to disagree then :)

Think you guys are reading to much into what was said.

I love that look Webber gets on his face when Vettel swipes pole from right under him (as has happened several times this season). It reads as “I can’t believe that bloody little **** did it again – goddamn his eyes!!”….LOL
I like Webber, he speaks/shows his emotions readily and you can tell that he sees Vettel as a pesky kid (think Scoody Doo ;-)
