Former F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan claims he will make a comeback with HRT in 2011.

Karthikeyan told Autocar India he will be on the grid in time for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix this year:

I have worked really hard to come back to F1 and it will be a dream come true to race in front of the home crowd in our country?s debut Grand Prix. I hope that the Indian public will spur me on with their blessings and good wishes.

Karthikeyan previously raced in F1 with Jordan in 2005. The team was run by current HRT team principal Colin Kolles at the time. Karthikeyan later joined Williams as a reserve driver.

Karthikeyan said on Twitter:

Back in F1 in 2011. Signed a deal to race for HRT. I’ve always maintained that my time in F1 was not over and now making good on that promise.

Huge thanks to my long-time supporters in the Tata Group. Their support has been instrumental.

  1. ITs hard to say he is not worthy of being in any formula. he is not good like top rated drivers but is more than enough talent to race
he has won every formula series he has competed except f1 where he was driving jordan and he did not got updated car until Belgian gp 16th race of the season

if u guys watch he had reasonable first half season he was equally match for his team mate he is quick in wet he was 4.8 second fast in wet qualifying in Melbourne than his teammate he lost bit to his teammate at later half

at japan again at wet condition he qualified at 11

he did not finish the race only five times of which three time it was not even his fault

he did not finish Bahrain due to Electrical failure
    Monaco due to Hydraulics failure
British GP due to Electrical failure

Canada and China where his fault I accept that

  2. How much did HRT get?

  3. If I remember correctly he was beaten by another Rookie. Tiago Monteiro. And they were both in the Jordan team. If you can’t dominate a teammate like Monteiro you don’t warrant a long term career at this level.

Personally if money was not a problem I would take Chandhok. At least he has recent experience and has driven your previous car.

  4. yeah on points..tiago did beat narain..

but ask anyone who was the faster among the two…

and f1 is about how fast you can go..not just trudge along and finish races..

i dont say finishing is not important but it is secondary to being fast..
