Virgin have announced details of changes to their senior management team including the appointment of former Jordan and Force India man Ian Phillips.

Phillips joins Virgin as their new chief operating officer. He left Force India in March last year having been with the team since their original entry into F1 as Jordan in 1991.

Virgin also announced Marussia Motors president Nikolay Fomenko as their new engineering director.

According to the team he will “provide overall leadership for the team’s technology programmes, covering race car development, engineering and collaboration with Marussia’s road car programme.” The road car manufacturer bought a stake in the team at the end of last year.

Graeme Lowdon had become the team’s president and sporting director, and will represent them in the FIA’s F1 Commission and the FOTA executive.

Chairman Darryl Eales said:

The changes announced today, together with Marussia’s wealth of knowledge and experience, provide us with a solid foundation as we enter our second season. I believe we are very fortunate to have such depth of commercial and racing leadership as we embark on the next step in our ambitious plans for the team.

  1. Looks like Marussia is really getting involved here. Interesting moves

    1. That’s good but what if still CFD they end up making a bad car as they did in 2010?

      1. Presumably they’ll have the fuel tank that can hold enough to finish a race, so they’ll already be a step ahead. If it hadn’t been for that, I think there would have been a good chance they would have challenged (and maybe beaten) Lotus. Can’t wait to see Glock on the street circuits this year, especially Singapore where he seems to just fly.

  2. Force India are losing quite a lot of people.

    1. Ian Phillips left Force India in March 2010.
