It definitely looks like a air duct connected to the secondaries air intakes, near the conventional airbox.

Are you sure thats not the exhaust? I thought the vertical exhausts from the last few years were banned in 2011?

i recon the intake from the prev picture is for the cooling of the KERS and this is the point where the air that has passed over the KERS can escape from
