Jackie Stewart was taken to hospital today after being taken ill during a flight.

The three-times world champion was returning from the Geneva Motor Show.

A statement issued by his office said: “Sir Jackie is in Hillingdon Hospital, Uxbridge after a physical set back on a flight back from Geneva to London Heathrow early this afternoon (flight no. BA0727).

“He is fully conscious and having precautionary medical checks but we are expecting a full recovery.”

  4. Oh no! Jackie is my all time favourite F1 champ. Such an inspiration on and off the track, done some fantastic charity work, his efforts on safety, inspirational man.

    I heard it is chest pain & he had been discharge from the hospital.
    What is wrong about 2011 that so many F1 drivers have to go in the hospital? anyways I hope all of then get well soon & also no one else re2quire to go there.

    Best wishes Sir Jackie. Guess we won’t see you at Melbourne then this year, which is a shame. Never mind, I’m sure you’ll be fighting fit and back again next year.

    Get well Sir Jackie, he is a legend in F1 and other things. His book is a great winter read too!
