5pm Sunday local time, huh? I hope I can make it. I know I’m going to miss qualifying; it’s my sister’s 21st birthday. But I have to travel from home to uni on Sunday afternoon. I should be okay – it’s already kind of a race against the sun. It gets dark quickly this side of the mountains, and because the road I have to take is one of the most difficult and dangerous in the country, I need to be well and truly over it before about 3pm when the sun starts getting in your eyes.

I’ve read that 3 times but I don’t understand! :P Why are you going to uni in the afternoon? There’s a Grand Prix on Prisoner Monkeys! Everything else is irrelevant, okay?

I guess its travelling back on Sunday afternoon to be back in place for Monday morning.
Still, maybe PM could just look at his sisters place and hit the track afterwards (that is, if there is any connection between Sunday 7:30pm and Monday 6am). A taxi ride might prove to be desasterous to the budget.

but maybe a pair of good sunglasses would do the trick?

Considering that home and uni are 250km apart, I’d say yes – it would be a disaster. Especially since I’d have to make the trip twice; once down to home tomorrow and then back up on Sunday afternoon.
Let me just show you the road I have to take to cross the mountain. Sixty-five kilometres of twistiness. And at this time of the year, it’s usually damp.
BasCB (@bascb)
14th April 2011, 11:40
Yeah, I see how that will most defenitely bury any thoughts of the taxi, and it might not even be much safer :-D
Here we just had snow falling in the mountains (well everywhere up from 700m) again yesterday, just when I got onto summer tyres!
I guess it needs a lot of experience and being relaxed on the pedal to make the trip safely with a low sun.
Maybe a night trip, or is it too rainy and slippery?
Prisoner Monkeys (@prisoner-monkeys)
14th April 2011, 12:11
Night is out of the question. It’s impossible to see. I’m going down tomorrow afternoon, coming back Sunday at noon. I should be fine; the last 60km or so goes north rather than west, so the sun won’t be a problem.
BasCB (@bascb)
14th April 2011, 12:41
Does it really get dark enough, that good headlights wont give enough to see?
Must be a hell of a trip, please show some pictures one, got me curious!

I hope to get to see at least the FP2 and FP3, and at least the start of qualifying. Probably won’t be able to see the race, as I am visiting family this weekend and I doubt getting up 7 in the morning and watch the GP will be received positively by all.

I’m in Portugal on holiday for the German GP. I’ll leave the girlfriend on the beach while I scout for coverage!

Sounds good! I just asked my brother to keep the recording he makes just in case (but I will get to see that only in a weeks time).

What part of Portugal Andrew? There is a bar by the beach in Quateira, always has Formula 1, MotoGP, GT3, everythign you could possibly need on the tv at all times. They also have amazing ice creams on offer too :)

I really want to get up and watch FP1, FP2 and FP3 as I did in Melbourne, but the other part of me just wants to sleep. It’s a difficult decision.

My plan is to record the lot and avoid media until I’ve watched them. Quali and race live though, not the same otherwise.

FP2 for me tomorrow :) No work so I can then go back to sleep. I may well pop on F1F Live for it.

Hey there all. What ever happened to the list of live feeds..
The new live “twitter style” feed doesn’t mention them (in fact it encourages NOT requesting them.) I am in Australia and One HD is killing me with their commercial breaks and lack of free practice coverage.
I am a REAL F1 fan, and simply WILL NOT put up with the trash that commercial television dishes out. I will gladly pay for the privelage of watching a decent live feed but it seems that Bernie isn’t listening. I’ve heard that the “proper high quality feeds” are not mentioned on this blog due to the fact that if FOM finds out about them they do their absolute best to close them down… Sooooooo… If anyone wants to drop me a line at twobarboost(at)hotmail(dot)(com) with some decent feeds or hints on how to obtain them (remember i’m willing to pay if the site is good enough) i will be forever grateful!!!

People can and do post video links in the live discussion. You usually only have to scroll down a bit to find them.
We ask people not to post request for links because a page full of people asking “got any feeds?” is obviously of no use to anyone.

Not sure my gf would be very happy if I accidentally woke her up at stupid o’clock then was moody all day for a second Friday in a row….
So it looks like FP1 is a no-go!
