Sergio Perez
Sergio Perez was required to complete a medical examination after his crash in Monaco, to determine whether he was fit to drive.
He was passed fit today by the FIA: “Following examination by the FIA Medical Delegate Jean Charles Piette and the Medical Officers of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Sauber F1 Team driver Sergio Perez has been found fit to race at this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix”.
Reserve drivers
The following changes to the usual driver line-up will be made for first practice only:
Nico Hulkenberg will drive Adrian Sutil’s car.
Daniel Ricciardo will drive Sebastien Buemi’s car.
Tyres
The teams will use the same two tyre compounds as in Monaco: the soft (yellow colouring) and super-soft (red colouring).
They will also have a new compound of medium tyre available to test on Friday only.
Stewards
Two-times F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi will be the drivers’ adviser to the stewards this weekend.
He will join FIA World Motor Sport Council member Garry Connelly and the FIA’s Alternative Delegate to the United States Tim Mayer on the panel.
The track

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was first used in 1978 and has been on the calendar ever since, with two exceptions: 1987 and 2009.
The little-used venue on a man-made island is mainly comprised of slow corners and fast straights. With barriers lining much of the track, the slightest error can be heavily penalised.
It’s tough on brakes and last year unpredictable levels of tyre wear produced an exciting race.

This race would be interesting without rain, but no there’s probability it will rain; Red Bull last year were behind both Ferrari and McLaren, let’s see if they will still be this year or if they can continue their title hunt alone!

Do you mean the actual, official race programmes? Other than buying them at the race I expect they turn up on a certain popular online auctions website…

I am fully prepared for the race. All my assignments are done, I don’t have any exams until the week before Valencia, and I have two litres of iced coffee in the fridge to keep me awak on Sunday night. The caffeine is likely to blow up something hat I’m going to need later in life, but at least I won’t miss the race.

I can’t wait for this weekend, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is one of my all time favourite race tracks and as far as actual racing is concerned it’s got to be one of the best short circuits in the world.
The Canadian fans are brilliant too, this is one of the few events on the calendar where you can almost feel the atmosphere and excitement at the track even though you’re thousands of miles away and watching on TV.
I wonder if the wall of champions will claim any new victims this year ?
