Sebastian Vettel arrived in his home country as a world champion for the first time – and sporting a T-shirt marking his latest driving achievement.
He posed for pictures with the five other German drivers who will be starting this weekend’s race.
Two of them, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg, piloted a pair of Mercedes W196s (one in ‘streamliner’ form) around the old Nurburgring Nordschleife.
There were changes evident at HRT, where recent changes in the team’s ownership have led to the old ‘Hispania’ logos being replaced with new ‘HRT’ ones.
Here are more pictures from Thursday at the Nurburgring.

Poor Micheal, Relegated to driving a vintage Mercedes around the track. He MUST have been trying hard to pretend it was a red Ferrari. I bet he was even making the engine noises in his helmet to try and make it sound like the real deal.

Sorry, I forgot *Sarcasm* or *Joking* at the end of that post!

Ah, but the vintage Mercedes might have sounded more like the Ferrari he must have been feeling like driving then the current Ferrari does!

Have you ever the sound of that desmodromic straight 8. Verdi or Pucini could’nt compose it.

I still think that enclosed W 196 is the most beautiful F1 car ever.

It’s pretty nice.

Not sure about most beautifull, but it certainly is right at the top of em.

Great pictures!
Keith, your site is very slow. I don’t know if it is only here in Brazi, but you should take a look at that.

Seems fine to me.

Vettel and Barichello need to pose together in their stig t shirts. Even better would be with Schumacher, Webber, Hamilton, Button, and Mansell all looking on in the background.
daykind (@daykind) said on 22nd July 2011, 11:17
That would be a great idea! But surely Rubens wouldn’t be at the front now…

i hear that nico rosberg hates women and the handicapped. :P

Does Nico Rosberg always wear yellow racing boots? I just noticed it in the picture where he’s standing next to the W196.
BasCB (@bascb) said on 22nd July 2011, 8:05
I must say, that new HRT logo does look a lot more purposefull than the old Hispani racing one. Just don’t exchange Liuzzi for a Spanish never ran on the grid guys. If needed give Andy Soucek a friday drive!
daykind (@daykind) said on 22nd July 2011, 11:18
It looks great, but it’s concerning that they’ve had three logos in one and a half years.
