   Could somebody please explain what all the extra parts on the Ferrari are for?
   They are not testing an anti-hamilton collision cage for massa are they?

     must have been driving too close to the pitwall and accidently snared the pit-board :D
     on a serious note, but not speaking from knowledge or any real know-how; i’m pretty sure its an aero-testing device, it will probably have all sorts of sensors plastered all over it to measure air flow over the front wheel or something.

     The bit on the top is for the electricity. Like on the dodgems. Yeah. Unfortunately, one of the pit wall mechanics left the pit board on the front wing and noone noticed…

       Dodgems is a good term for how some drivers have treat their cars this season. Good to see pictures like this as it is something we don’t often see.

     It is a bit difficult to see but they look like they are a grid of pitot tubes, which as others have guessed measure are speed. The point of this is to see how the airflow flows from the front of the car and onto the sidepod.

       I read some italian article stating that Ferrari still have trouble getting their wind tunnel right. So it might have been measuring the airflow from the tyre/FW and next to the car to verify those with windtunnel findings.

   I like the bodge job Williams have had to make with the PDVSA sponsorship decal on the engine cover. As they white space it usually occupies it taken up with 2012 spec exhaust, they’ve had to move it up so it straddles the blue. Looks very messy.
