  1. Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes.
Finally the year feels like its begun, after the car reveals and the beginning of testing.
Forget New Years, Chinese New Year, any kind of New Year! This is what I’ve been waiting for!

    1. @nackavich F1 New Year. :P

  2. Will there be any live video for the other tests? I think I know the answer, but thought I’d check.

    Last year I used,

It gives live text updates on what is happening (no video) but also has a table of lap times etc. Only it is in french so I use google translator with it. (link below)… better than a kick in the pants as my GF would say.

I haven’t found a better link yet so using it today.

  7. For text commentary best site is autosport.com

Sky by the way doing live trackside commentary also following that

  8. Why does Lotus (formerly known as Renault) change the gold stripes on their cars to that HIDEOUS beige after the presentation? They completely ruined it.

  9. McLaren are sloooow. Hope this isn’t another 09 :-/

Iinteresting! Last years fastest lap was from a Williams at 1:19.8 this has already been surpased by Lotus and Force India. I was expecting the cars to be a good deal slower with the loss of the diffuser, but it seems that they have already clawed back the lap times. I suppose some of this may be due to better tyre compounds, but it is still good to see that the pace is good… better than I expected.

    1. Well they got faster during the year last year so if they made their cars be at least as fast as they where at the final race in 2011 then they will of course be faster. Also last year they had no knowledge of the tyres in the first tests.

i’m not talking about progress through the year, that is largely irrelevant. I am talking about from last years testing (with a new design) to this years testing (again with a new design) but minus the blown diffiuser, times are remarkably similar. The blow diffusser was a quintessential part of last years desisgn with many of the cars designs being focused around the concept.

    2. So much for setting the fastest time last test. Williams were saved from outright embarrasment by the presence of the three new teams.
Lets hope their slower initial times will improve steadily upwards.

  11. For fastest time from each drivver… http://www.newsonf1.com/testing/jerezt.htm

  12. Autosport has quite good feed on the tests too!
