Kimi Raikkonen laps Nurburgring Nordschleife with Kim Dotcom - videoKimi Raikkonen appears in a new video with controversial businessman Kim Dotcom.

The pair and a third driver raced a trio of Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMGs around the Nurburgring Nordschleife for a promotional video.

Dotcom, born Kim Schmitz, is best known for creating file hosting service Megaupload, which was shut down earlier this year following charges of copyright infringement.

He said the video was shot over 20 laps of the 20.8km (12.9-mile) track.

It shows Dotcom passing Raikkonen at the end of the lap but he insisted: “I did not win against Kimi. I never could. We had to remove the air from his tires to keep up. And even then it was impossible.”

Dotcom calls the video an “homage to the Nurburgring, the CLK DTM and Kimi Raikkonen, one of the best drivers in the world.”

The film, which appeared on YouTube recently, appears to have been shot last year. Raikkonen appears in a Red Bull cap and Dotcom refers to footage from it having being “seized by the FBI during the Megaupload raid” in January.

The Nordschleiefe was last used for an F1 race in 1976 before being dropped on safety grounds following Niki Lauda’s crash in that year’s race. The crash was recently re-created at the circuit by director Ron Howard for his forthcoming film Rush.

You can watch the video below – be warned it contains very strong language:

My reaction can be accurately summed up with one internet meme: puking rainbows :O≈≈

  2. Haha from NZ! my friend was contracted to build the mansion he owns here!

  3. You can see the whole 20 laps on megauplo… oh wait :P

I don’t know why but i seem to get the feeling kim Dotcom thinks a lot of himself. I just can’t quite put my finger on it…

    1. I remember that I saw him in a video for the Gumball 3000 rally, before he changed his name and was known as Kim Schmitz. He was a singularly unlikeable person, showing a complete disregard for everyone and everything around him – including a police car that he rammed off the road because it got in his way.

    2. Living in NZ and seeing him speak about his arrest for Megaupload he actually seems a very nice guy,

I’m ashamed that we are detaining him at the request of the US despite him not actually having broken any laws.

    3. It’s surprising he’s not popped up before around F1…

    4. I don’t know why but i seem to get the feeling kim Dotcom thinks a lot of himself. I just can’t quite put my finger on it…

He’s a shameless self promoter, while he was in NZ prison his company uploaded a video of him playing Call of Duty MW3… cause even though he couldn’t play it he was still still top of the leaderboards.

  5. “So Kimi, how was the Nürburgring northern loop?”

    1. Awesome.

  6. There’s only 100 of those cars right? The guy owns 3 of them…

    1. What a waste….

  7. hahaha… that’s cool.

You see? Kimi lets his driving do the speaking, but it is very articulate driving.

    1. You are right about the language… I’m cool with it but aren’t you bending you own sites rules just a teeny bit? Plus… what sort of example do you think that’s setting? LOL

only messing withya. I’m off clubbing now…

  8. Very cool, and what a great track as well! Must have been such fun to drive in cars like that.

  9. Weird video. Terrible music! What’s that all about?!

Is this just a case of boys and their toys?

  10. Wow man the whole operation must’ve cost 10 million USD at least? The production – bar the music – is actually good. Anyways, for a recluse like Kimi, he either went for this thing because he got paid a couple of million USD, or got into some criminal entanglement with Kim and thus had to pay him back.

    1. Pity he didn’t stick it in the wall. Obviously the God of Payback was taking the day off.

Kimi and Dotcom are actually some sort of “friends”
      According to Finnish newspapers

  11. That guy is a joke. However, “ich liebe Nordschleife”.

How far up ur own **** to ya have to be to make a video like that of urself

    1. If you had the opportunity to do it, you would.

      Well, I certainly would.

  13. Why are we giving that brain-dead criminal any oxygen at all.

  14. Driving a few laps on that awesome track is right up at the top of the list of things that I would dearly love to do, but probably never will. Sigh.

    1. Why not?

Touristenfahrten. Hire a car from somewhere like RSR Nurburg.

Have the time of your life.

      1. Maybe you’re right! I’d be coming from the US, so it wouldn’t be cheap, but it would at least be worthwhile to do a bit of research. Thanks for the nudge!

  15. Number plates are ironic funny:
    Good – Kimi
    and – random guy
    Evil – Kim

  16. Not a single helmet amongst them and and a convertible without even a roll hoop. No wonder they chose the soundtrack “take me away”, repeating the same sloppy behavior that takes many lives at the Nurburgring.

Obviously Kimi learned nothing from Robert Kubica’s situation ..

I am NOT a safety nazi but this is just really stupid IMO.

  17. My ears are bleeding MF er’s…that musis was soooo bad…..

  18. Feels like the introduction and music could have been taken straight out of Bruno!
