    1. This is the 1st race of the season I won’t be watching live,
but plus side is I’ll get home from Oulton Park BTCC just in time for highlights.

      1. I am going to the BTCC as well!

      2. Well I know what I’m going to be watching instead then! Oulton Park is a great circuit.

      3. I knew this was going to happen – I’ve effectively got to wait until Monday evening before I can watch the race. How am I going to avoid finding out the result first?!?

        shakes fist at Bernie

        1. It’s not Bernie’s fault you’re tight for sky :p

      4. From as far back as I can remember Formula 1 Grand prixs have always been shown live on the BBC 1 or BBC 2 or ITV So the plan on sunday was just to stay at home because of the crazy British weather relax and enjoy the Grand Prix live so imagine to my horror im scrolling thru all the tv listings and cannot find a start time for the Canadian Grand Prix only today do I find out some of the races are now only going to be shown on Sky which I dont happen to have.In my opinion the change has not been very well advertised and im starting to wonder now just what the hell we pay the ever increasing fee for a TV licence to be able to watch ‘extended highlights’ at a time of night when some people who have to get up early for work on monday mornings are thinking about going to bed is this the start of the end of live races on BBC tv!!!!

    2. I’ll be on holiday in Gran Canaria for this one. Any tips on how to watch there?

      1. Antena 3, free.

        1. Thanks. So would that normally be available in a hotel room?

          1. yes, no problem. National coverage.

    3. Yes, a good opportunity to go off and do something else on Sunday.
But I’m looking forward to the highlights – a whole two hours of it, and even better – no Jake or Eddie Jordan, according to this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01jtb2x
(other races have him listed under ‘Credits’)

A bit surprised BBC didn’t bag this as a live race. Usually, more people watch the evening races in the UK. I remember last year, OK it was a bit special, but loads of people were talking about the Canadian GP on the Monday after.

European First Channel, TF1, France, will NOT broadcast the Canadian GP Live but at 1 A.M. Monday Morning! Can you believe it? It’s always the same old story!
French broadcaster does NOT like F1, they start broadcasting 5 minutes ahead of a GP and shut it down just after the podium ceremony, plus for several years now they do NOT broadcast Practices and even Qualy. Sad!
TF1 gives us 5 ads of 5 minutes each during a GP Race, thanks they let us watch the racing-hour left with poor commentaries and useless anecdotes.
So, as I can’t pay for quality here in France, as mates can do in England or Germany, I have to watch it on streaming, delighted by David Croft and Martin Brundle!

    5. We’re entering that stupid time of year in the US when races are shown on FOX instead of on SpeedTV. (However, the pre- and post-race coverage will still be on SpeedTV.) At least the Canadian GP will be shown live, because it’s on in the late morning/afternoon here anyway.

Other sessions this weekend will be shown as usual (FP1 and FP3 streaming on SpeedTV.com, FP2 and qualifying on SpeedTV).

      1. Gah! Isn’t it aggravating? Delayed, dumbed down commentary AND twice the number of ad breaks.

      2. Figure this out: It’s not even going to be on TSN. Canada’s Sports Leader ISN’T showing the CANADIAN Grand Prix!!

    6. Late F1 starts are cool. Last year was brilliant with it running so late!

I MIGHT try and stay up for IndyCar, hopefully it will be a little more entertaining than Detroit if I do so.

    7. Yay! Two races in two great tracks! My girlfriend’s gonna shoot me! ;)

    8. Is there a minimum delay clause built into this mess of a contract?

A 22.30 start time on a Sunday evening is an absolute joke. Surely they are not choosing to wait that long after the end of the race to start their highlights? This weekend is the worst yet for the viewer and I’m sure lead to a MASSIVE drop on audience numbers from last year.

      1. The race might not have finished by then, as it doesn’t start until 7pm.

        1. It could reasonably be presumed to end at 21.00, so the highlights program could easily be scheduled for then.

          1. I am fairly sure there will be a clause determining the minumum amount of time BBC have to wait before broadcasting highlights – it is the same with football, which is why Match Of The Day has always been on after 10pm. It forces you to choose between waiting until late or shelling out for a subscription…

    9. Qualifying starts straight after football (soccer): Netherlands – Danmark.
Not having to choose is fine with me.
Because I have a satellite dish I cannot record one channel while watching the other.

      1. I now read that I missed an important fact:
Dutch TVchannel RTL7 delays qualifying, because of football.
So it’s media black out then.

Since I’m just too old for F1F live, it’s no problem (I can’t type. read and watch televison and do a good job at all three). If I pretend it’s live, it’s live.

      2. On Sunday you have Spain-Italy for Euro starting at 19h45, exact 45 minutes into the race, consider skipping Euro’s match first half.

    10. The BBC should have bagged this and the American race live due to the evening times; I doubt that broadcasting at 10:30 will get many viewers with that ridiculous start time.

      1. Sky probably didn’t give them a chance to for exactly that reason, best opportunity for them to try and grab peak time viewers.
BBC pick first (taking UK, Monaco, closing?), then it’s Skys turn and I bet these two were in their first three choices.

        1. I’d imagine it’s got a lot more to do with Jake being unavailable.

    11. …and now sky empire takes over F1 broadcasts in italy from next year. just like here in UK.

      1. Skynet (and Judgement Day) is just around the corner!
But somehow I just don’t see Arnold Schwarzenegger playing Rupert Murdoch.

    12. In Canada:
TSN: Qualy: Sat: 12:55pm et/9:55am pt
      CTV: Sun: 1:55pm et/10:55am pt
      Speedtv.com: FP1, Fri: 10am et, 7am pt
      Speedtv.com: FP3: Sat: 10am et, 7am pt

      1. Thanks, @mickrock.

I thought for a minute it wasn’t going to be live at all, when I saw it wasn’t on TSN!!

To be honest, when Rupert Murdoch finally dies, it will be a day of mad celebrations in my house.

I despise him, and his company that has ruined F1 fan’s enjoyment of the sport, and everything he stands for. He and Bernie are cut from the same cloth. I think Hitler was sewn together with it too.

Nasty, incompassionate, greedy, arrogant little men.
