Predictions Championship lead remains in a tie

Predictions Championship

The same two players are tied for the lead of the Predictions Championship after the Canadian round – but it’s getting closer behind them.

Carpy3 and Chrissylyn each picked up five points in Canada, taking their totals to 70. But with the Canada round winner scoring 19, several players closed in on the championship leaders.

Nipz was the top scorer in Canada after correctly predicting a win for Lewis Hamilton with Romain Grosjean second, Sebastian Vettel fourth and Fernando Alonso in the top five. Their prize is a 1972 Autocourse eBook.

Five players tied for the second and third place prizes with 17 points. Nudihunter won the second-place prize of a Grand Prix Heroes DVD after getting within 0.03s of predicting the pole position time correctly.

The third place prize, an F1 poster from PJ Tierney, goes to Jeanrien. Commiserations to Bertie, Clay and Kapow32 who were close – but not quite enough.

Many players were on course for good score earlier in the race when Hamilton led Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel – that was by far the most popular podium prediction. However over 58% of players correctly predicted Hamilton would win.

Here are the seven highest-scoring predictions for the last race:

    1. Well, I continue to not have to scroll down TOO far to see where I am in the standings — and I feel like that’s probably about the best I can hope for this season!

    2. How does the points system work for this?

    3. 4 points this week, LOL. Still, tied for 128th overall. Not too bad I think.

    4. So many people scored 5. Let me guess, Hamilton correct and then Alonso and Vettel in the wrong place in the top 5, just like me?

      1. That’s me anyway. Was also counting on Webber and Rosberg in top 5.

      2. Exactly that for me @necrodethmortem! After scoring solidly in the first round, I have been gradually dropping back in the order and almost hit 200th now.

    5. I had predicted Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel, Webber and Raikkonen as the top 5 in that order, and after the first round of pit stops, this looked really good…but then Alonso and Vettel had to spoil it by one stopping :P

    6. I must be one of the few people that put Perez in the top 5, but I’ve only got two points :O
I love how unpredictable F1 is this year but it’s making the predictions championship so much more difficult.

      1. Yeah, I wonder how many points the leader had after 7 races last year!

    7. 6th in the overall championship. Fantastic.

      1. @walsh-f1 Quite funny when we search “Ciaran”, we find a guy ranked 128 th … It only after I realized we are ranked under the @name

Surprised by this round, almost double my total points

    8. Pirelli mystery solved.., the winner @nipz has a wireless connection to all cars’ suspensions. He changed the suspension settings of VET ALO, so their tyres wore out, dropped back and GRO overtook them :p

    9. Finally a double figure score! Glad I included Grosjean in there – but I thought my guess of 4th would be optimistic, never mind 2nd!

    10. 9 points! :D I scored just as much in Canada as I did with Monaco, Spain and China combined. My best score so far.

Last year I would have been disappointed with that. How times change!

      Well done to the winner.

    11. If Valencia is hot as usual im counting on Lotus to dominate. did so good in the first round and my predictions have gone downhill

    12. Damn! I’m doing horrible this year. Curse you Pirellis, i can’t get a prediction right!

    13. I’ve been so hyped up for landing in the top 100 after this round. Just imagine what my face looked like when I saw my overall position in the standings.

      It was 101.

    14. cant see my score
i had vettel on pole and hamilton win….
