The FIA has confirmed the 2013 F1 calendar, which will feature 20 races.
The calendar is similar to the provisional calendar which appeared before the Singapore Grand Prix. The only changes are that the Korean and Japanese Grands Prix have swapped dates and the German and Belgian Grands Prix has been moved one week earlier to July 14th and August 25th respectively.
The FIA also indicated a new Concorde Agreement, which outlines the organisation and governance of the sport, will be signed soon: “The FIA President confirmed that positive and constructive discussions continue with regard to the new Concorde Agreement and it is anticipated a contract will be signed by the end of October.”
The sporting and technical regulations for 2013 were also agreed at today’s meeting of the World motor Sports Council.

Should be interesting with all the rule and driver changes.

“Non” to France then, and I like the extra week of anticipation between Spa and Monza.

I thought the German grand prix alternated between Nurburgring and Hockenheim? We had hockenheim this year, so why hockenheim again next year. Am I missing something?
James (@jamesf1)
28th September 2012, 17:07
The Nurburgring has no money whatsoever, so could be that. Or just a typo.

@paulocreed At some point the provisional calendar was changed and the venues for the German Grand Prix switched.
I’ve enquired with the FIA and they say they cannot confirm which track will hold it yet, so I’ve marked it as ‘TBC’ now.

@keithcollantine Ah ok, thank you!
Looks to be like a similar year to this one with minor track differences.
I’m also glad the summer break isn’t so long.

Joe Saward says it’s the Ring: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/all-this-and-a-calendar-as-well/#comment-117533
I thought both the tracks are in a pretty bad financial state; Hockenheim has the money to run the race every other year (but not every year) while Nürburgring is pretty much bust. So, if the race is at Hockenheim, we’ll probably get some speculation how long it’ll stay there…

Well I’ll take the NJ race happening next year over it not happening. If it didn’t go ahead the Championship might only have 19 races! I need all the F1 I can get even if it’s doing parade laps in a tesco car park!

Wow! Big day for F1 today. Two driver changes and the calendar comes out as well.
I guess the traffic today might be almost as much as a race weekend!

The Tilke Tracks don’t exactly have very creative names; Sepang International Circuit, Shanghai International Circuit, Bahrain International Circuit, Korean International Circuit, Buddh International Circuit….

Neither do the cars – MGPWO3, MP4-27, F2012, RB8, STR7, CT-01, MR-01, F112, VJM05, C32, FW34, E20 – all codes. Perhaps they should open up the names to fans to think of something interesting.

Been reading about the Bloodhound land speed record car today. Now that car has a proper name – and so did its predecessors. Thrust. Golden Arrow. Thunderbolt. Bluebird. Green Monster (my favourite). Blue Flame. There was also one called ‘Babs’…

The list of names there is a bit strange; the newer tracks have their official names whereas the older ones tend to be given the familiar ones – “Interlagos” rather than “Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace” or “Monte-Carlo” rather than “Circuit de Monaco”, for instance.

@ilanin That said, calling it Sepang or Marina Bay would be in the same vein as the tracks you mentioned, since they seem to be named after the districts they’re located in. (I can only be sure about those two anyway)

Great to see the addition of New Jersey to the calendar in 2013. But not sure about its name. Even Grand Prix of New York sounds better than Grand Prix of Jersey. Either way, can’t wait to go there. Good to hear that Singapore has signed up again too!

However, I know what I’ll be doing August 23rd to 25th.
