Qualifying finishes and the cars return to the pits – with the conspicuous exception of Sebastian Vettel’s.

Vettel’s delayed start

The field filters through the first chicane on lap one. Paul di Resta misses the corner with a puncture and Bruno Senna arrives shortly afterwards following his tangle with Nico Hulkenberg. Then Vettel and Pedro de la Rosa appear from the pits.

Hamilton almost loses lead

  1. Looks a good race to watch in the stands.
Close to the action, high up to see more and also stands on good parts of the track.

  2. I think I’m ridiculously bad at making videos, these are about a million times better than mine, even from testing when there was no-one in the way. Plus I have a tiny camera.

  3. Ok, so how many moments are there in these video’s that were completely missed by FOM?

And this was the first time i noticed theres a drop down of a few feet at the hairpin, showing how wrong it is to use moving cameras close to the cars combined with turning cameras but non looking at them from a bit higher up.
Also nice to see the difference beteen the move from Vettel on Button and on Senna, showing how much truth there is in saying it needs two to tango (treat each other with respect and leave a bit of room).

    1. nice to see the difference beteen the move from Vettel on Button and on Senna

The two situations cannot really be compared (in terms of “respect”, at least), as Vettel tried to overtake Senna on the inside, hoping for Senna to allow him room to escape from an impossibly compromised line he took through the corner; while he passed Button on the outside, all the time controlling his own room.

Also, he was never in front of Senna; he was already in front of Button before they went into the first of the corners. When Button’s chance not to leave room came (during the second turn), the overtake was already a done deal, so there was not much he could have done without risking a penalty.

    2. I was surprised Vettel went for button, It could have ended with a subtle tap on a rear tyre and he would spin out like Webber (or worse), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVEJuYUDJz0

  4. I love how scrappy Vettel’s race was. He was frantically trying to make progress and dealt himself a couple of silly moments with Senna and that DRS board, he still drove like an absolute champ though and it’s rare we see him have to fight so much. Handing that position back to Grosjean was a smart move, albeit one from his pit-wall.
