Not about testing, but while its quiet……..
Simon Rennie has left Kimi and Renault to go to RBR, seemingly a swap with Ciaron Pilbeam going the other way. Much has been written about what I thought were Kimis hilarious comments at Abu Dhabi last season, and certainly the sort of coment I would expect from any driver who has a solid relationship with their engineer and would not be taken out of context as disrespectful or hurtfull to the engineer.
In fact I assumed that these relationships were at their best when the driver and engineer were very “tight”, eg Massa and Smedley. However this doesnt seem to hold water, because I can only think of one situation where driver and engineer have moved team together which is what you would expect if they were a very close and effective unit; namely Jock Clear and JV moving from Williams to BAR.
So this leads to two questions:-
1 is the relationship with the driver simply a very small but highly visible part of the race engineers job?
2 would it be better if drivers and race engineers stuck together like a rally driver and navigator / golfer and caddy; moving through their career together when a good relationship is found?

Is it just me or have Kimi and Romain kinda combined their two helmets from last to make this year’s ones look almost the same from a distance….?

They’re a bit more alike but Grosjean’s has more white than Raikkonen’s. Pictures of both here:
