Ten of the best pictures which tell the story of the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend.

Mercedes, Thursday

The Mercedes crew get some pit stop practice in on Thursday. During the race they produced the fourth-quickest stop for Nico Rosberg.

Rodolfo Gonzalez, Friday practice

A new face on Friday: Rodolfo Gonzalez made his first appearance in an official practice session for Marussia.

Heikki Kovalainen, Friday practice

Friday also saw the return of a familiar face. Heikki Kovalainen returned to Caterham to give his thoughts on their problematic new car.

Meanwhile Charles Pic evaluated their latest upgrade and found them to his liking. In the race he brought the car home in front of the two Marussias for the first time this year.

Mark Webber, Sunday

Mark Webber celebrated his 200th Grand Prix start on Sunday morning. Did Sebastian Vettel’s invite get lost in the post?

Williams, Bahrain Grand Prix

In Q1 both Williams drivers set fastest times of 1’34.425. Valtteri Bottas set his first so he was ranked first on the timing screens – and that became decisive when the pair straddled the divide between Q1 and Q2 at the end of the session.

But despite being eliminated by his team mate in qualifying Pastor Maldonado bounced back in the race to finish 11th. That equalled the team’s best result of the year so far but they remain point-less for now.

Start, Bahrain Grand Prix

Rosberg took pole and led the field but he later admitted it was at around this point in the race that he realised he was going to struggle to keep Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso behind. He dropped to ninth by the chequered flag.

Fernando Alonso, Bahrain Grand Prix

Alonso’s race went awry shortly after he passed Rosberg. His DRS jammed open, forcing him to make two early pit stop which destroyed his chances of finishing on the podium.

Jenson Button and Sergio Perez, Bahrain Grand Prix

Jenson Button felt team mate Sergio Perez attacked him too vigorously during the race. Button gave as good as he got, pushing Perez off the track at one point,

Romain Grosjean, Bahrain Grand Prix

Romain Grosjean had had some tough times since his previous appearance on the podium in Hungary last year. He’d struggled with his car’s handling in the opening races but a new chassis seemed to cure his ills in Bahrain and despite missing Q3 he finished third.

Sebastian Vettel, Bahrain Grand Prix

Vettel celebrated his second win of the year with Red Bull’s electronic support group leader Gill Jones.

It looks like Buemi is crying in the Webber 200 picture! Why does the celebration in that picture feel so artificial?

I remember checking out this RB team picture picture and wondering “Where’s Mark?”
