Five players post top scores in Spanish GP predictions

Predictions Championship

Five players racked up big scores in this weekend’s Predictions Championship round – but all of them narrowly missed out on perfect results.

Despite getting the top five finishers in the race exactly right, not of them managed to correctly name Nico Rosberg as the pole sitter.

Surprisingly, despite Nico Rosberg having taken pole position for the previous race in Bahrain, only four people tipped him to do so again in Spain out of well over a thousand players.

The pole position time tie breaker had to be used to select which of the top five claimed the latest prizes.

One of the five, @Sebsronnie, has moved into the lead of the points standings after five races. Remember you can enter your predictions for all the remaining races below.

Here’s what the top three players won in this race:

  1. Wow, 177, that is the highest I have ever been ranked :) haha

  2. Really rueing missing two races now, 11 at Spain wasn’t too shoddy by my standards!

back to reality… my seven points launched me from 11th to 50th *sigh*

  4. 668th – you all have nothing on me ;)

    1. @vettel1
That’s what happens when you keep predicting that Vettel will win! :D

      1. @kingshark that’s the thing though, I don’t always! I was going to go for Alonso initially but Friday kind of lulled me into thinking Red Bull had comparable race pace to Ferrari, so I thought qualifying would decide it (so that’d then be Vettel)! I didn’t see those degredation levels coming though!

having a really tough time making my predictions for monaco

  6. 19 points!!! yay :)

    1. @andae23 I withdraw my comment, you have managed to be doing worse than me! ;)

      1. @vettel1 Actually pretty weird: usually I do an initial prediction on Friday afternoon and change it just before qualifying. Last Saturday I was out, so I couldn’t ‘correct’ my first prediction, and I got 19 points. So… I guess I should stop changing my mind? :P

        1. @andae23 I need to do the opposite I think – I didn’t change mine after Friday and got 5 points, but I got 9 in the last two!

I’ve misread your comment though, you pretty much scored over half my total in one round (I thought you were meaning that was your overall total)! So you are beating me – as with a lot of people I imagine! ;)

          1. @vettel1 you just need one lucky break :)

          2. @andae23 I don’t know the meaning of the word “luck” :P You can pretty much bet on the opposite of what I say happening – so maybe I should just go exactly against my instincts :)

  7. Wow – I remember watching the end of the race with one eye on my predictions confirmation email in some sort of a daze! I simply couldn’t believe it. Even more unbelievable is the fact that four other guys got the final five exactly correct – simply amazing. I must admit it’s a nice feeling leading the ‘championship’. Now I have to figure out how to stay there :-)

    1. I’d imagine a time machine would be a useful start :P

Nice job on leading the championship!

  8. Scored 48 points and thought I was guaranteed first prize :) Need to improve on my pole predictions!

  9. I had Raikkonen on Webber’s place and Webber in Raikkonen’s one.
oh well not to bad! 150 with 41 points in total!

  10. Scored 3 and dropped 113 places. Yikes!

  11. I’m tied for 948th place, but only because I missed the first two races. If I’d done those two races, I’d be at least 848!!! LOL Geez, I’m having a bad year. :-(

  12. I got 11 points for Spain which brings me up to… 668th place.

      Aha! The same as you

  13. Got 22, nice… 115th, not too bad for a first season)) should’ve put some more faith in Massa. I was only .3 off the pole time too.

By the way, if last year pole was .4 slower, how come Pirelli were expecting the cars to be 3-4sec slower?

  14. Am in 66th place after 11 points in Spain, and this is going to be my first full season of participation in the Prediction Championship. Monaco’s going to be a very difficult race though, i am not sure whether the Mercs will have enough pace to keep the others behind on a track where overtaking is well-nigh impossible. Hopefully things will be more straightforward from Canada onwards…

  15. Last minute prediction and 11 points…Not that bad.

So any news on how long those Pirelli wristbands will last? Hopefully until Canada at least. Winners that weekend should get ones that last a bit longer
