The preceding two days of practice had been disrupted by rain. Conditions for race say were dry and considerably warmer than they had been earlier in the week. Most drivers opted to start on the super-soft rather than the medium tyre.
Sebastian Vettel lined up on pole position ahead of Lewis Hamilton and – surprisingly – the Williams of Valtteri Bottas. Further back on the grid were Paul di Resta and Romain Grosjean in 17th and 22nd places, both of which had been eliminated during the wet Q1 session.
Here’s how the Grand Prix unfolded as heard in the 240 team radio messages broadcast during the race.
2013 Canadian Grand Prix team radio transcript
|PR||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||The only cars on medium tyres are Grosjean and the Marussias. You are the lead car on medium tyres.|
|FL||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||RS modes cancel and working the tyres and brakes as much as you can. We want to be boosting to 10% before you get to turn 11, really. So wherever you can you’re boosting to 10%.|
|FL||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Rears are coming up, fronts still cool and if you could boost to 50 only.|
|FL||Ayao Komatsu||Romain Grosjean||Cool the car when you can.|
|FL||Unknown||Sebastian Vettel||All systems are good. Tyre warming as per plan. Remember your procedures, it’s bite point learn and one burn-out. Good clutch prep so straight to your box. Focus on KERS at the start and KERS eight when you stop.|
|FL||Simon Rennie||Mark Webber||This is a red start. React to the beep quickly and use KERS in gear two.|
|1||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||Cancel RS, car behind is Nico [Rosberg].|
|1||Max Chilton||Gary Gannon||How’s my tyre temperature?|
|1||Gary Gannon||Max Chilton||Front minus 20, rears minus 10, keep building temp, it’ll come.|
|2||Paul Davison||Jules Bianchi||Try and follow Grosjean through if you can, mate.|
|2||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||Can we have KERS F5 please.|
|2||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Plus 2.5 Hamilton.|
|3||Ayao Komatsu||Romain Grosjean||DRS is available.|
|3||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Just caution on the left-rear bulk temperature.|
|3||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||Good lad, good boy, car in front is Perez.|
|4||Paul Davison||Jules Bianchi||Front zero, rear zero, tyres are good now.|
|4||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||Traction 1,700.|
|4||Marco Matassa||Daniel Ricciardo||Recovery three, Daniel.|
|5||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||Sutil’s brake temps are high at this point in the race, Paul. Avoid pedal crossover if you can.|
|7||Marco Schupbach||Nico Hulkenberg||Brake balance plus one against rear lock.|
|7||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Traction 1.9. Front brake temperatures slightly on the cool side, may cause some front locking.|
|7||Simon Rennie||Mark Webber||KERS ten. If you cannot pass Rosberg think about looking after the tyres.|
|8||Kimi Raikkonen||Mark Slade||Hey, what’s happening, my brake pedal is really really soft.|
|8||Mark Slade||Kimi Raikkonen||Looks like we have the same problem as Friday, you need to go forwards on the balance as much as you can.|
|8||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||We need to keep the rear temps under control|
|8||Nico Hulkenberg||Marco Schupbach||Rear is pretty loose.|
|8||Marco Schupbach||Nico Hulkenberg||Copy Nico, copy. A lot of people saying overheating rears. Special to ‘off’ for temperatures.|
|8||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||I think the medium tyre’s coming into it’s own at the moment, Paul.|
|8||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||To manually use DRS we need to override it. That is default seven, six, accept, if you haven’t already done that.|
|8||Paul di Resta||Gianpiero Lambiase||It’s working now.|
|9||Sergio Perez||Mark Temple||My DRS isn’t working in the second part.|
|9||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||We think you pressed it too early so next time if it doesn’t deploy immediately come back off and press it again.|
|9||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||OK come on Paul, super-soft tyres are terrible, let’s get past these guys, we’re losing too much time.|
|10||Adrian Sutil||Brad Joyce||I really have no grip in the rear.|
|10||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||Pits this lap, pit confirm.|
|10||Juan Pablo Ramirez||Giedo van der Garde||We need to take care of the rear tyres on the early laps. First few laps, take care of the rear tyres.|
|11||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||Can we go back to Yellow G1 please. Currently P12, obviously there’s a good queue of cars in front, behind Bottas.|
|11||Romain Grosjean||Ayao Komatsu||They no stop move right and left.|
|11||Ayao Komatsu||Romain Grosjean||OK, copy that.|
|12||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||Sutil was hit by Maldonado at the second hairpin.
You’ve got some damage to the rear wing so adjust diff and adjust brake balance as you need to to get over any oversteer you may have.
|12||Mark Webber||Simon Rennie||Main problem’s at the front-left, mate, no front-left.|
|12||Simon Rennie||Mark Webber||OK Mark, understood.|
|13||Esteban Gutierrez||Francesco Nenci||Impossible to keep position, it’s crazy.|
|13||Francesco Nenci||Esteban Gutierrez||Copy, are the tyres dropping a lot?|
|13||Esteban Gutierrez||Francesco Nenci||Yes|
|13||Francesco Nenci||Esteban Gutierrez||Copy. We think it’s too early to pit now because you’ll be in traffic for the slow cars. Try to keep going a bit more, Esteban.|
|13||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||And you are on Plan A, it’s target plus two at the moment.|
|13||Sergio Perez||Mark Temple||I have really big deg on the [super-soft].|
|13||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||OK, understood. Use the diff switches, A switch and B switch.|
|14||Paul Davison||Jules Bianchi||Not much we can do at the moment, Jules, we’re looking to one-stop.|
|14||Tim Wright||Charles Pic||You can use torque three already if you want.|
|15||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||As the drivers on super-softs start to struggle Di Resta’s plan to complete the race with one pit stop, having started on mediums, is looking good.
Data at the moment indicates plan A is a winner at the moment.
|15||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||What do you think about the degradation now? You are just about to complete 14 laps.|
|15||Felipe Massa||Rob Smedley||Well you can see the degradation is there on the rear. So everybody’s just how people anticipate.|
|16||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||We want three to four laps at this pace.|
|16||Lewis Hamilton||Peter Bonnington||I’m pushing.|
|16||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||For your information Paul, Jenson is still out on his super-softs, potentially looking for a Plan A as well.|
|16||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||All the time we can do this pace we should stay out.|
|17||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Remember just controlling rear these temperatures, casing temperatures are high to start, they’re close to the maximum per lap.|
|17||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||You’re doing a great job. Nico four-tenths slow last lap, he’s currently holding up Webber.|
|17||Lewis Hamilton||Peter Bonnington||Keep going, my tyres are feeling alright.|
|18||Simon Rennie||Mark Webber||Rosberg ahead is on [super-soft], he may struggle later in the stint. Think about looking after the tyres for later in this stint, he may be weak.|
|18||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Rear casing temperatures in danger zone at the moment|
|18||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||You are P3 at the moment. Lewis has not stopped yet. Vettel has stopped on [medium], Webber on [medium].|
|19||Jonathan Eddolls||Valtteri Bottas||Bottas switches from super-soft to medium tyres on lap 15 and keeps them on for 26 laps.
The target is 25 more laps on this set.
|19||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||We’d like to try and just do one more stop in this race if we can. As I said the damage on the last set was traction, graining so we need to make sure we look after the tyres in that area.|
|19||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||We’re going to the other tyre so box, box. Pit confirm|
|20||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||Shortly after receiving this message Massa passes Gutierrez in the second DRS zone.
Gutierrez, who is the car in front, still hasn’t stopped so you should pass him easy.
|20||Jenson Button||Dave Robson||Button hangs on to his super-soft tyres until lap 27 – longer than anyone else. He then makes his single pit stop to change to medium tyres.
The tyre has gone through the graining, front and rear.
|20||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||OK Jenson, stay out, this is good.|
|21||Mark Slade||Kimi Raikkonen||At the moment the plan is to go as long as we can.|
|21||Kimi Raikkonen||Mark Slade||OK, good.|
|21||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Engine map 42.|
|22||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||You are one second a lap faster than Sutil.|
|23||Mark Slade||Kimi Raikkonen||Mix one, Kimi. Fuel consumption is higher than expected. Do what you can to save fuel without losing performance. Box this lap please Kimi, how is the front wing?|
|23||Kimi Raikkonen||Mark Slade||Yeah it’s OK.|
|23||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||OK Paul Montreal 72 and multifunction seven, P1.|
|24||Felipe Massa||Rob Smedley||Massa now has a good view of the rear of Sutil’s Force India.
For information his rear wing is bent.
|24||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||Understood that he has less rear wing than us.|
|24||Felipe Massa||Rob Smedley||No, no, it’s bent. It’s to the left. It’s broken.|
|24||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||Understood: ‘Bent’.|
|24||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Vettel’s lap times are in the low 1’19s.
Hamilton 19.9. Next fastest is 19.4.
|26||Kimi Raikkonen||Mark Slade||Raikkonen is behind Perez.
Is the car in front of us a two-stop?
|26||Mark Slade||Kimi Raikkonen||Yes, Kimi. The two cars – three cars in front at least are on two stops.|
|26||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||Target lap minus three.|
|26||Marco Schupbach||Nico Hulkenberg||Hulkenberg is behind Bottas, Perez and Raikkonen. All except Raikkonen go on to make two pit stops.
Three cars in front of you: different strategy. All the rest: same as you.
|26||Gary Gannon||Max Chilton||Blue flag, Hamilton.|
|27||Jules Bianchi||Paul Davison||Maldonado passes Bianchi on lap 26.
Should I race Maldonado or not?
|27||Paul Davison||Jules Bianchi||Yep we’re racing him Jules. His deg’s starting, let’s race him.|
|27||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Let us know if you want a flap adjust at the next stop.|
|27||Nico Rosberg||Tony Ross||No change.|
|27||Jonathan Eddolls||Valtteri Bottas||Bottas passes Button and the McLaren driver pits at the end of the lap.
Button in front looks to be struggling on these tyres.
|28||Jonathan Eddolls||Valtteri Bottas||Great move again Valtteri keep driving like this, tyres are looking OK.|
|28||Andrew Murdoch||Pastor Maldonado||Good job, Pastor, good job.|
|28||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||Box this lap.|
|28||Jenson Button||Dave Robson||OK, box this lap.|
|28||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||This will be [medium] tyre. I propose we leave the wing alone, no wing adjust.|
|28||Jenson Button||Dave Robson||OK, in this lap, [medium] tyre.|
|29||Marco Schupbach||Nico Hulkenberg||Di Resta who started on [mediums] still going quicker and quicker every lap.|
|29||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||Degradation on this set doesn’t seem as bad. We’re still on Plan A and still looking at our Plan A stop target lap.|
|30||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||Looks like we have got our pit stop window over Bottas so that’s excellent work, Paul.|
|30||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||Data really does look very healthy for these tyres so push. It’s an excellent job so far. Quality drive. Keep going.|
|31||Jenson Button||Dave Robson||I need to know the plan.|
|31||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||Button is reassured that race team engineer Hiroshi Imai is happy with the state of his tyres. Imai is a former Bridgestone engineer who joined McLaren in 2009.
We are Plan C and there are 42 more laps to do. We need to take care of the tyres, Hiroshi is confident.
|31||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Push hard now.|
|32||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||You’re doing a great job Lewis, just keep doing what you’re doing. Current race situation you have Vettel 17 seconds up the road, Webber has not got past Nico, he’s 11 seconds behind.|
|33||Gary Gannon||Max Chilton||Let’s go for a 21.5 Max, push a bit more, let’s use the tyre. Around five to go.|
|33||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||You are going to the end of the race on this set. 39 laps to go, you need to look after the tyres to get 39 laps out of it so traction matrix most important.|
|33||Nico Rosberg||Tony Ross||I’m clear but who am I racing?|
|33||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||You are racing Webber and Alonso still. Obviously they’re ahead at the moment but you are still racing. Next car behind is seven seconds, you’re not racing him, you’ll stay well ahead.|
|34||Lewis Hamilton||Peter Bonnington||My DRS won’t work in both zones.|
|34||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Vettel has caught Raikkonen to lap the Lotus driver, who is shown blue flags.
Be patient, mate, just be patient.
|35||Andrea Stella||Fernando Alonso||Alonso is given a message in English and Italian. In the Italian part of the message he is told Hamilton is 11 seconds ahead.
Safety car window is open.
|35||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||Continue what you’re doing, the brakes are OK if you need to keep doing that. At the moment we’re looking to stop at the same target lap. Massa in front on [super-soft] tyres is really starting to struggle so we’ve got a good opportunity to catch up with him. Let’s make sure we maximise our pace over the next laps until we reach our target lap.|
|35||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Next lap target zero. Tyre temperature under control. Still traction needs to be under two.|
|36||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||We’re likely to be racing Jenson at the end of the race. He is on Plan B. So if we make this set of tyres go as long as we can then we’ll have a good tyre pace delta to him at the end of the race. So let’s make sure we keep looking after these tyres, make sure we’re in a good position for the end of the race.|
|36||Sergio Perez||Mark Temple||Copy.|
|36||Phil Charles||Jean-Eric Vergne||Having been lapping in the 1’20s Vergne brings his times down into the 1’19s from lap 35.
KERS recovery four. That’s a better lap, Jev, keep it up.
|37||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||There’s a ‘track surface slippy’ message in the last corner.|
|38||Nico Hulkenberg||Marco Schupbach||Hulkenberg pits on lap 38 having spent the last three laps stuck behind Bottas. The Williams driver comes in two laps later and emerges from the pits behind the Sauber.
I think we need to overtake him in the pits. They have too good traction.
|38||Marco Schupbach||Nico Hulkenberg||No chance now, we have to try it on the track. Cool right.|
|38||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||Massa now three seconds in front, he’s really struggling on these [super-soft] tyres now, we’re racing him for position. You’re current P11, P10 is up for grabs if you can get past him. Obviously we need to make sure we can still get to our target lap and have good tyre life at the end of the race.|
|39||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||You will get blue flags for Hamilton.|
|39||Ayao Komatsu||Romain Grosjean||We are still on target for Plan A.|
|40||Max Chilton||Gary Gannon||Keep going as long as it’s needed?|
|40||Gary Gannon||Max Chilton||We need in for a pit stop window. In now and you have Vergne behind.|
|40||Jonathan Eddolls||Valtteri Bottas||Push hard now. Hulkenberg behind has just pitted so push.|
|41||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||Absolutely critical stage of the race now. Two-stoppers beginning to finalis their stops so we’re looking to maintain track position. Maximum push.|
|42||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||We’re catching Massa ahead at two seconds a lap.|
|42||Gary Gannon||Max Chilton||OK Max we’re trying to stay ahead of Pic but make it to the end. 28 to go.|
|42||Phil Charles||Jean-Eric Vergne||This is good, need good laps. Just keep concentrating, doing the best laps you can.|
|43||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Vettel catches Giedo van der Garde to lap him again. The Caterham driver has already collided with the other Red Bull of Webber.
Watch out for Van der Garde, he’s not paying any attention.
|44||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Watch out for Van der Garde, he might not see you on the inside, be careful.|
|44||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Good job mate. Good patience, good job.|
|44||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||We have a free pit stop window. We’re looking to extend this as long as we can. The cars we are racing are Perez and Sutil so maximum push.|
|45||Marco Schupbach||Nico Hulkenberg||14 is actually our true position so we have to keep pushing, maybe profit from somebody else dropping the tyres at the end.|
|45||Phil Charles||Jean-Eric Vergne||How are the tyres now Jev?|
|45||Jean-Eric Vergne||Phil Charles||Not too good, a little bit oversteer but it’s OK.|
|45||Phil Charles||Jean-Eric Vergne||OK understood.|
|46||Ayao Komatsu||Romain Grosjean||Massa is on the [medium] tyre, Massa is going to the end. Kimi in front is also on the [medium] tyre, he’s going to the end, so you’re racing Kimi and Massa.|
|46||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||You were eight tenths quicker than Alonso last lap.|
|46||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||Jenson is the car behind now, we are racing him, we are racing Jenson.|
|47||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||As I said the car behind, right behind you, is Fernando, and then one second behind Fernando is Webber.|
|47||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||Charlie level one. If you try and stay left on the exit of turn 14 you may get DRS.|
|48||Juan Pablo Ramirez||Giedo van der Garde||Van der Garde is shown blue flags for a full lap as Hulkenberg tries to lap him. Hulkenberg eventually draws alongside on the entry to the final chicane and the pair make contact.
Stop the car. Find a safe place.
|48||Giedo van der Garde||Juan Pablo Ramirez||Stop, really?|
|48||Juan Pablo Ramirez||Giedo van der Garde||Yeah Giedo stop and kill the engine.|
|49||Nico Hulkenberg||Marco Schupbach||Suspension failure or something.|
|49||Marco Schupbach||Nico Hulkenberg||Can you come back?|
|49||Nico Hulkenberg||Marco Schupbach||I don’t think it’s safe in the quick sector.|
|49||Marco Schupbach||Nico Hulkenberg||OK Nico, stop, remember KERS jump. Sorry for that.|
|49||Nico Hulkenberg||Marco Schupbach||What happened there?|
|49||Marco Schupbach||Nico Hulkenberg||Van der Garde has a loose front wing, I don’t know if it was this. We will see.|
|49||Simon Rennie||Mark Webber||Tyres are good, OK to push ’til the end. Tyres are easy.|
|50||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Your previous stint was 33 laps.|
|50||Mark Slade||Kimi Raikkonen||Tyre wear looks good to the end, Kimi.|
|51||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||You must let Hamilton through, you’ve had a blue flag.|
|52||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||Basically we’re going to leave this call to you. As soon as you feel the tyres are shot we need the call and we’ll pit. OK? So stay out and push.|
|53||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||There’s 18 laps to go. There are a few cars ahead who are on quite old tyres, they’re trying to one-stop it, so they may come towards us at the end of the race. So we’ve got opportunities to gain positions if we’ve got good tyres at the end of the race.|
|53||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Vettel goes wide at the first corner and runs over the run-off.
OK mate settle down, bring your tyres back in.
|53||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Focus on braking and clean exit, that’s what we’re after.|
|53||Mark Webber||Simon Rennie||Are these backmarkers serious today or what? Unbelievable.|
|54||Romain Grosjean||Ayao Komatsu||The tyres are losing traction|
|54||Romain Grosjean||Ayao Komatsu||How many laps?|
|54||Ayao Komatsu||Romain Grosjean||18 laps to go, one-eight.|
|54||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||For information Kimi is on the medium and he fitted it at lap 23 of the race. So your tyres are much newer.|
|55||Simon Rennie||Mark Webber||Webber is just under nine seconds behind second-placed Hamilton. Alonso is between them and catching Hamilton.
We may catch Hamilton by the end of the race, still got a chance of catching Hamilton, keep up the pace, keep pushing.
|56||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||We’d like to pull more of a gap to Vergne and then we can do a precautionary pit stop to change tyres. They’ve just flat spotted.|
|56||Paul Davison||Jules Bianchi||There are lots of blue flags behind we’ll just have to take them and make the best of what we can when we’ve got free air. You should have one lap in free air now, let’s aim for a 19.8.|
|57||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||That’s fastest lap. Cars behind you still have to go through traffic. Just keep it clean.|
|57||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||There’s 14 laps to go. Massa ahead is our best chance of gaining a place. Let’s go and attack him, maximise the last 14 laps, let’s catch him up, let’s see if we can get a good position.|
|58||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||This tyre has had issues on other runners in terms of rear graining. We need to target no more than a 1’18.5 so we don’t actually need to go any faster. So zero on your dash, look after your rear tyres in traction.|
|59||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||Traction metrics are under 2,000. Temps are looking good.|
|59||Lewis Hamilton||Peter Bonnington||You should let me drive, man.|
|59||Francesco Nenci||Esteban Gutierrez||Ricciardo is pushing again behind and we have 11 laps to go.|
|59||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||One second quicker than Kimi.|
|59||Jonathan Eddolls||Valtteri Bottas||12 laps to go. Improve the pace if possible, but only if possible.|
|60||Lewis Hamilton||Peter Bonnington||Hamilton’s second place is under pressure from Alonso and he is having difficulty putting Sutil a lap down.
|60||Paul Davison||Jules Bianchi||Let’s use the clear air. Lap time target 19.9.|
|61||Gary Gannon||Max Chilton||Ten laps to go, Max. Just hang in there, we’ll hope Pic makes a mistake.|
|62||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||Sutil gets a drive-through penaty for taking too long to let Hamilton past.
Sutil in front has been given a drive-through so let’s really push now we’ve got a good opportunity to get ahead of him. Let’s really push.
|62||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||Adrian we have a drive-through penalty for ignoring blue flags. Keep pushing and stay out for another lap.|
|62||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||Pits this lap, pit confirm. It’s a drive through penalty, do not stop in the box, just drive through the pit lane and back onto the circuit.|
|63||Simon Rennie||Mark Webber||The cars ahead are losing time by fighting, you still may get a chance.|
|64||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Alonso is now P2. You’re plus 20 Alonso.|
|64||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||We’re 5.6 seconds behind Massa, we’re in tenth place, let’s get Massa.|
|65||Esteban Gutierrez||Francesco Nenci||Too much locking end of brake.|
|65||Francesco Nenci||Esteban Gutierrez||Copy. Is it only the front-left, question?|
|65||Esteban Gutierrez||Francesco Nenci||Rear, rear locking.|
|65||Francesco Nenci||Esteban Gutierrez||Copy|
|65||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Be aware you can use the second DRS zone, you’ve not been using it when you have it. Vettel, race leader, is five seconds ahead so if you can pick the pace up, stay in front, that’d be good.|
|66||Lewis Hamilton||Peter Bonnington||Fernando just closed the door on me and took my wing out.|
|66||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||Copy that Lewis. It looks good to us, no damage.|
|66||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||Yellow G1 and Green F3.|
|66||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Gutierrez crashes at the pit lane exit after a late pit stop to change tyres.
Yellow flag turn two, car off on the outside in the barrier, marshals are off in the grass.
|67||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||DRS should be disabled.|
|67||Francesco Nenci||Esteban Gutierrez||You’re OK, Esteban?|
|67||Esteban Gutierrez||Francesco Nenci||Yes, I’m OK.|
|67||Francesco Nenci||Esteban Gutierrez||Copy. Switch off procedure, please.|
|68||Andrew Murdoch||Pastor Maldonado||Don’t hold Sutil up, let him go.|
|68||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||Still yellow flags turn one.|
|68||Ayao Komatsu||Romain Grosjean||Track is clear.|
|69||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||Raikkonen seven seconds behind, this lap he is one-and-a-half seconds faster. Better put a bit of a push on but should be well safe.|
|69||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||Track is clear ahead and there are two laps two go.|
|69||Phil Charles||Jean-Eric Vergne||Alonso and Hamilton are coming behind you, you may get a blue flag for them. Blue Jev, blue flag for Alonso.|
|70||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Last lap, bring it home.|
|70||Andrea Stella||Fernando Alonso||Last lap.|
|70||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||Massa passes Raikkonen.
OK that’s good mate. P8 and this is the last lap.
|VL||Christian Horner||Sebastian Vettel||Fantastic Seb, you won the Canadian Grand Prix! Fantastic, makes up for two years ago. Brilliant drive.|
|VL||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Good job, mate. Very tidy, very mature – well, almost! Really good job today mate. Very clean.|
|VL||Sebastian Vettel||Guillaume Rocquelin||Yes! We won Canada! Thank you boys, thank you. That was amazing, the car was absolutely amazing. Thank you boys. Sorry for the little off towards the end but the car was fantastic. Woohoo! Yes!|
|VL||Christian Horner||Sebastian Vettel||Right, Seb, Rocky is coming up to get up on the podium with you today so look after him, keep him under control.|
|VL||Sebastian Vettel||Guillaume Rocquelin||Yes baby, we deserve that. Great car, good step from Friday once again. Thank you boyds. Yes!|
|VL||Christian Horner||Sebastian Vettel||We’ll see you move like Jagger later.|
|VL||Guillaume Rocquelin||Sebastian Vettel||Alright Sebastian, give the boys a wave.|
|VL||Andrea Stella||Fernando Alonso||Superb, superb.|
|VL||Fernando Alonso||Andrea Stella||Thank you. Good return after a difficult weekend.|
|VL||Peter Bonnington||Lewis Hamilton||Great job Lewis, P3. It’s a real tough one with a load of traffic.|
|VL||Ross Brawn||Lewis Hamilton||Very good job this weekend, Lewis. Very good job. We know we’ve still got to find a bit more in the car, and the track didn’t help today, but very good job and great race, well done.|
|VL||Simon Rennie||Mark Webber||Nice job today. P4 we finished. Going pretty well, pulling away from Alonso until we got that contact with Van der Garde. By the way Van der Garde got a ten second stop-go penalty, he was obviously in the wrong. I don’t know if you noticed but we had some front wing damage, it was going to be pretty difficult from then onwards. Good job anyway.|
|VL||Christian Horner||Mark Webber||Good job Mark, good recovery especially with that front wing. Don’t know what Van der Garde was doing.|
|VL||Tony Ross||Nico Rosberg||Well done Nico so pick up rubber where you can. Order was Vettel, Alonso, Lewis, Webber, yourself, Vergne, Di Resta, Massa, Raikkonen, Sutil.|
|VL||Phil Charles||Jean-Eric Vergne||Cool the brakes, Jev. That’s an absolutely outstanding drive Jev, well done. Brilliant job.|
|VL||Jean-Eric Vergne||Phil Charles||Woohoo! Good job guys. Really, really happy. What a weekend. Woohoo!|
|VL||Phil Charles||Jean-Eric Vergne||Everybody’s congratulating you here, Jev, that’s briliant.|
|VL||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||Well done Paul, P7. That was a perfect drive and that’s well deserved. I’d say that was a return of the ball. Good job.|
|VL||Paul di Resta||Gianpiero Lambiase||Good job, guys. Nice strategy. God I can’t believe how long those tyres were going. Timed to perfection as well. Recovery after yesterday, now let’s get it right for Silverstone.|
|VL||Gianpiero Lambiase||Paul di Resta||We will. Great drive.|
|VL||Rob Smedley||Felipe Massa||Well done mate. That is P8 so some points. A good recovery from yesterday. Tough race, clearly a very difficult race with the traffic but it was OK and we got some points.|
|VL||Mark Slade||Kimi Raikkonen||Good effort. Wasn’t such a great performance from us. Thanks very much. Points again.|
|VL||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||Unlucky Adrian, that’s P10.|
|VL||Adrian Sutil||Brad Joyce||I really don’t understand this drive-through. I mean the backmarkers are holding me up, holding everyone up, and I get a drive-through. So to the FIA I really don’t understand that.|
|VL||Brad Joyce||Adrian Sutil||Yes we think it’s very harsh and we will discuss it further with the FIA.|
|VL||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||We finished P11 which is not the result we wanted. But you showed some good pace, good tyre management and pushing laps when needed. Unfortunately I don’t think there was much opportunity for any more than that.|
|VL||Sergio Perez||Mark Temple||How was the one-stop strategy? Do you think it would have worked for us?|
|VL||Mark Temple||Sergio Perez||I think it’s difficult to say, obviously we’ll have a look after the race. Obviously you finished ahead of Jenson and were able to push through the race. The thing I’m not sure about is the first stint, whether or not we should have tried to go longer on the [super-soft]. But I do think two-stop was the right way to go.|
|VL||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||Not quite the race we were intending. But that’s actually a really good drive to look after the tyres and do that many laps on the [medium]. That’s a really good effort.|
|VL||Jenson Button||Dave Robson||Yeah I’m not sure a one-stop was the way to go. I think we need to do a bit more work on lap times you want me to do because I don’t think that was correct. It felt very slow to me. And obviously could go a lot quicker when we pushed.|
|VL||Dave Robson||Jenson Button||Yeah, agreed. I think we underestimated the performance of the [medium] for a while there. So yeah, you’re right, it was a bit slow to start with.|
