Wet practice sessions likely again at Nurburgring

2013 German Grand Prix weatherPosted on Author Keith Collantine

Jenson Button, McLaren, Nurburgring, 2011The weather at the Nurburgring has a bit of a reputation. The track is close to Spa-Francorchamps which shares a similar unpredictable climate.

F1 only visits the circuit in alternate years. During its last visit, 2011, the race was held in dry but unusually cold conditions. Air temperatures during the race never made it above 14C.

We’ve seen wet conditions during Friday practice at the last two race weekends and it looks likely to continue tomorrow. Occasional showers are expected from midday so there is a good chance first practice will be dry but the second session may not. Air temperature will be around 21C.

On Saturday the weather will take a turn for the better with the clouds clearing up and sunshine rising temperatures up a couple of degrees. Race day will bring more of the same with conditions fairly similar to what we saw at Silverstone.

There will be regular updates on the track conditions during each session on F1 Fanatic Live and the F1 Fanatic Twitter account.

Location of Nurburgring

The Nurburgring circuit is in the west of Germany, close to Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps track where F1 will race next month.
